Defi Bleu is Gordon's horse flying under the radar for this race. He's been messed about with this season, then 'bang' his only entry is in this over the correct trip. Second in the Pipe over the same trip two season ago and available nrnb at 25/1. He's not been talked about anywhere which I also like. 140 plus 3 pounds of UK tax makes him look like a very nicely handicapped horse, given his previous Festival run.

I have a feeling that one of Farclas and Conflated will either go up in trip or won't turn up for Gigi, and Defi Bleu only has this entry so this is the target.

Although if they expunge him then you may get refunded anyway for antepost bets ??? - not sure on this.

BHA handicapper will amend a mark for a fall 2 out (slate house being a recent example of this), I’m not sure on the exact rule but I’m sure it’s something like anything 2 out of after is considered a ‘rateable performance”

He's entered in races this Fri/Sat/Sun, looks like they're keen to get an extra run into him, possibly to guarantee a mark. If he does run this weekend would that concern you at all - with it only being two a bit weeks to the festival (and with him having run 3m on heavy ground at the end January)?

I did notice he was raced quite frequently during his novice hurdle campaign...

I'd love him to come here, having backed him any race some time back. His entries next week are not ideal though. So in hoping he skips them, otherwise I don't think he's getting on the boat.

I think he has discretion to do most things with marks to be fair.

I think they're backup in case he needs a pound or three, or the handicapper refuses to give a mark.

If he's ahead of the handicapper as I think he is he won't need to break sweat.

Just read a stat that the last 6 winners of this race were making their Festival debut. That'll knock a few out !

That is an interesting stat Lobos, I thought it was wrong but yes Festival debut not Cheltenham debut, most of the horses in the top 10 of the betting have raced at the festival before.

A horse making his festival debut is Protecktorat. I wonder if his poor run on the weekend was part of his handicap plot and not a horse on the decline. He’s gone off the radar after being a hype horse a few months ago and with Spirit of the Games possibly heading towards the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle maybe Protecktorat is the Skeletons main hope this festival
