Hello Fat Jockeys,

I don't personally think that winner today is actually a 120 rated horse, time should prove that was a very low mark for him?

To be fair, it's easy to put a line through the race isn't it.... clearly didn't stay. If the Martin Pipe was over 3m, I'd say the bet is dead...but it's not.

On balance of his form, for me, I wouldn't give up on him... you clearly have, and fair enough - nobody is claiming to have nailed the winner of the Martin Pipe this early.... unless you're me, 12 months ago - and we all know how that went.
Yeah agreed the winner probably better than that. May even be a 130 horse... which would give our fella a solid 78 rating today

I hope he goes on to run in a Gold Cup or something monumental

Can't even remember his name and it was only 2 hours ago though, so not a good start.

That clearly wasn't him at his best or anywhere near it.
He'll probably run in Dublin, unless he's not very well.
I'd concede it probably wasn't true form from him, but we don't know how good he is.

Using Vanillier and Stattler is hardly reliable either yet. That was Stattlers first start over hurdles and clearly he's seen as a staying type so finishing ahead of him over 2m 3f is hardly an inspiring form line. Vanillier looks like a stayer too, and had the benefit of a run over hurdles too so put his experience to good use that day.

We've literally got a maiden hurdle over 2m 3f, just a furlong shorter than the pipe, where he got done by a stayer, and finished ahead of another stayer, and todays race.

I can't get out of my bets on him, so I'm hoping your optimism proves to be correct, but visually, on what we've seen so far and how his form compares with previous Elliott runners before contesting the Martin Pipe, he isn't for me.

So who is the one - keep coming back to Wide Receiver (7-1 nrnb) and Fakiera (12-1nrnb).

              Still multiple options for both.

They are both entered in the grade 1 over 2m 6f at the DRF.

Wide Receiver also in the 2m grade 1.

If they line up there and don't cut the mustard either of them could end up here with a big shout.

Well, that's a game changer. Clearly not right but still ran well up to 2 1/2 miles. He's back in the game !

Hopefully doesn't hold him back for too long?

Not something I'm clued up on at all.

                    4th genuine excuse now too?

The "no chance" brigade and trigger happy cash-out chaps are a little more nervous than 10 minutes ago...

Sorry that's a bit harsh, but I know you know I'm joking really

We know what they say about bleeders

Glad I couldn't cash out though, Fantasio wins all, once the bleeding stops!

                        I'm not optimistic.
It just wasn't his true running IMO. And he may have not been well.

If horses are decent enough there shouldn't be dozens of lengths between them no matter what the distance of the race (especially 2m 3f to 3m)
So I'd say the other race shows he's a decent sort, rather than how he looked today.

edit - just read the rest of thread and seen the blood thing.

Sounds like he bled, that's not normally a good sign going forward is it?

Be surprised if he turns up at the festival now myself.

Blood's never good unless it's explained away.
                            So it depends.

Well hopefully we'll hear from the potato lover soon enough then.

                              • Speaking from experience of owning a small share in a low grade flat horse that bled, Fantasio will obviously need to be checked by vet to see if it's an upper or lower airway infection. My understanding is that upper is bad, lower is not so bad. He'll be on medication for 10 days or so and wouldn't be able to run for 10 days after medication ends (wouldn't be ready to run anyway). They would then have to ease him back in, conscious that he could bleed again. So the DRF is definitely out on that basis & therefore Cheltenham would be unlikely. I could be completely wrong though.
