Im not remotely bothered about an 8 runner supreme and am surprised others seem surprised. We were always going to have fewer runners this year than any normal year with owners not being allowed. There are normally only 5/6 with realistic chances in a supreme, and we see most of them line up on Tuesday, so let's do this!!!

This being only 8 runners has really messed up my plans for this race, and I wouldn’t mind any suggestions of what I may do here. My 2 main darts are AI (1pt at 28/1) and ballyadam (2 points at an avg 16/1). I’ve covered Blue Lord with one point, with help from the sky money back offer, and my good lady has let me use her sky account for which I’ve had 0.5 points on irascible - the only credible threat of the 3 outsiders IMO.
The 2 that could end up ruining my day are metier & soaring glory (hate to be that guy but soaring glory bypassing race as suggest would have saved me a headache!!). I wasn’t realistically expecting a field that would have warranted any firms going 7 places but was hoping we might have gotten 5, the good thing about those offers was half the field were usually rags that you could discount from your calculations but you still got the benefit of them making up the numbers.
3 places doesn’t hugely appeal, especially sub-5/1, to cover the pair of metier & SG. I’d have been happy enough to do one. I’m considering just having a straight win stake on both, staking accordingly so I’d break even on the race should either win. But I think I may wait for the day & see if appreciate it is shorter, I could lay him for a chunk to get the same result (though it would eat into my potential profit for him winning more) but it does open up the bonus scenario of ballyadam, blue lord or irascible beating him. Decisions...

I'm not sure I agree with the small field taking away from the race.
Adding another 6 'social runners' wouldn't add to the quality of the race IMO.
It also very much suits my betting approach

In all seriousness, 8 runners in a Cheltenham novice hurdle race is appalling. There won't be many more in the Ballymore either.
The novice chases (excluding NH Chase) are all likely to have less than 8 runners.
People are pushing for a 5th day which is baffling. It's turning into glorified greyhound racing

British runners on Tuesday:
Supreme 4
Arkle 4
Champion Hurdle 4
Mares 6
NH Chase 9
That shows that British NH racing is in a dire state to me.

Keep it simple, 8 runners, most solid fav since Douvan
I personally think this year is understandable for small fields, and if they're not good enough, don't run them. Which horses are you disappointed not to be seeing in particular? There are only a handful worthy of being mentioned?
Just seen your post above, I agree.
2/9 still value in the Prestbury Cup

Timeform 1-2-3- Metier (IRE) ★★★★★
- Appreciate It (IRE) ★★★★
- Soaring Glory (IRE) ★★★
A smaller Supreme field than usual but still a cracking contest to kickstart the Festival. Both METIER and Appreciate It bring unbeaten hurdling records to the table and Harry Fry's useful ex-Flat winner is taken to edge out Willie Mullins' much-vaunted novice and go 4-4 in this sphere after his emphatic Tolworth victory. Betfair Hurdle scorer Soaring Glory appeals as the pick of the remainder.
"Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".
