If blue lord goes county & soaring glory skips Cheltenham this will be a really poor renewal. Want to wait for the hills 7 places to play metier but don’t want him to shorten. Think they’ll even do it if the race is going to be so poor?

He’ll go for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. He ran very well at Christmas and ran a similar race at the Dublin Racing Festival. I think he could have a live each-way chance. He has an entry in the County Hurdle, but he might just lack experience for that.

The point still stands of it being a weak supreme and something needs to fill the places

I've got AI in a ton of multiples, BA covered and Metier in a win today and at the festival from the Tolworth ... which leaves me with a bit of a Hail Mary here. Keskonrisk or Gowel Road are the two I have my eye on.

Think I'll go Gowel Road at 25/1. I think he'll either be right there or found out. Don't think he's going to be staying on for a place which makes the Sky 'win only' offer appealing.

Will then look to cover Keskonrisk in the Hills 'paying 7 places' offer (if they do it again). On good ground, I could see him chasing a couple home.

I’d be stunned if Hills do that offer this year when the field will be less than 12 runners I’d have thought. It’ll be like that year when betting all the outsiders each way with them was almost impossible to lose in because there was so few that turned up but they’d banged on for ages about their extra places offer for the supreme.

I haven’t fancied one big in this for many a year and almost never have the winner. Klassical Dream my only winner of this since the Rich Ricci/Mullins good ting days.

Last year I had Abacadabras, Asterion Ferlonge and Chantry House - the 2nd, 3rd and 4th - at fancy prices (none of which were each way) antepost to be done late by Shishkin who for some bizarre reason I didn’t cover despite telling my mate at the track that he’d drifted out to a massive price. Stupid betting from me considering how good a position I was in at that point.

With that in mind, I feel as youth I’m looking too hard for dangers to Appreicate It. And I can’t find anything I want to cover other than Keskonrisk each way perhaps on the day. I don’t think Metier is anywhere near the class of AI, I don’t think Blue Lord or Third Time Lucki will run here and even if they did, I’ve got Appreicate It down as a massively above average in a below average year. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if he goes off a shade of odds on. Did a very similar post on this thread a couple of months back but the race just gets weaker and weaker with more horses skipping it now. But that just makes AI have an easier task so I’m not going to complain. A disappointing year for novice hurdlers perhaps whilst there’s an above average crop of novice chasers. Guess that’s just luck of the draw.

Overall assessment is that it’s a piss poor renewal with a well above average favourite.
