Although both would probably run well over the other trip it’s surely usual trainer non-commitment.

Ballyadam is a Grade 1 winner over 2m and hasn’t run over further since his ptp.

Bob Ollinger is a Grade 1 winner over the intermediate trip but was beaten over 2m on debut.

Would be astounded if he switched them especially given the better ground will likely be better to the chances they have in their current targets.
Yeh Henry is not an upset the apple cart type. I think all this talk of CPS retaining old jockeys is the biggest indicator that their horses will be aimed at the races Gordon had intended to keep everything the same. They wont wont fallout from switching etc, so I agree, it would be highly highly unlikely

    • Annoying that Skelton didn't leave My Drogo in any of the novice races.
His attitude towards Cheltenham is fundamentally flawed.
Especially as a trainer with ambition.

He Completely misses the point in that a Sport needs a pinnacle and the owners and public look to that to see who can perform there.
A good winner at Cheltenham can keep a yard in owners for years, and consistent winners puts you in the established arena.
So if you have one with a chance then you should take that chance.

His moaning about the obsession with Cheltenham is like Barnsley FC saying there's too much attention paid to the Premier League.
Not sure why I chose Barnsley, it was going to be Port Vale.

Very fair point Q, he’s tucked them away today easily with a penalty as well.

Looks a proper chaser for next season, Brown Advisory (RSA).

        • He is definitely a prospect for next season and has improved from the Ascot run.

Do Your Job ran well after being smashed in the Tolworth.

            • What do you think the final field is going to be for this race? There are still loads of horses still involved in the betting but I don’t think there will be many runners.

Appreciate It, Metier, Ballyadam, Soaring Glory, Thedevilscoachman, Blue Lord, Keskonrisk, Gowel Road, For Pleasure. I can’t think of any others? Third Time Lucki and Ganapathi will go for a handicap and I can’t see Dreal Deal making it

              • No harm done today for Metier with My Drogo Winning. Bit of form back with Tile Tapper and to a degree do your job from Sandown. Granted, different conditions and other variables but I think it's only a positive for him.

A few of those mentioned may go County/ Coral cup yet.

Yeah agreed, this may be one of the smallest supreme fields this century if the a few go for the handicaps

                    • Year on year I find the supreme, pre cheltenham to be the most exciting race to plan for. Basically, your trying to get ahead of the market early with a Willie Mullins or Henderson hot pot and thats part of the fun/mystique, its why we have the Melons, Annamix’s and Fly Smarts every year. But we havent had that, this year, its been very disapointing.

Quite typical of the last year actually

Don't forget two that arguably would be challenging at the top of the market had set backs, one from each of the Stables you mentioned, Ferny Hollow and Dusart! How things would be different if they were fit and well!

                        • Yup, its a shame they both got injured. Dusart would have fitted the mould for me as the exciting unknown, we already knew all about Fearny

                          • looking at price action on Blue Lord it would appear he's going to the county? Very weak
Long bitcoin, long gold, long silver, long g/s opening day Cheltenham Festival

Irascible goes and I think Third Time Lucki will too. There are usually 3 or 4 "rags" too though maybe not this year given no owners.
                              I'd guess around 12-13 runners.

                              • Metier update:

Harry Fry’s confidence in Metier’s Cheltenham Festival challenge is growing after an encouraging Wincanton gallop by the unbeaten hurdler.

Metier, formerly trained in Ireland, has had a two-month break since taking his winning sequence to three in the Grade One Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown.

Fry also anticipates ground conditions will also be suitable for his stable star in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, the opening race at the Festival.

“He’s our leading light and he went very well on Thursday,” said the trainer.

“We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, but it was just what I hoped to see.

“The forecast is for unsettled weather in the middle of next week, and that should hopefully help us see a combination of good to soft and soft, and that would be perfect for him.”
