With regards to 7year olds, I think it only applies if they aren’t the standout horse pre festival.
I know that sounds ridiculous, but it has probably stood in good stead because the previous ones have needed to show some improvement to win it, you aren’t getting the same level of improvement at 7 as you are 5. However if they are the best horse on form there is no reason to think they can’t stay there.
Probably a really obvious point, and I don’t listen to trends anyway
