            I watched that festival focus series David done last season before the festival. He’s very convincing but his tips were bloody awful. Mullins doesn’t win handicap chases at the festival never mind the ultima. His price is crazy, I’d be shocked if he’s not twice that on the day

              • It's common knowledge that Lucinda and her hubby prefer to keep the jockey on their best horses so avoid amateur races where possible.

                I've not seen the quote but just watched Mark Mackay (the nice guy caddie) and he said Lucinda has said that Giovinco will run here if Apples Away doesn't get in.
                Not sure what else she says but it looks like at least one of them runs here.

                I'd imagine that if Apples gets in then Giovinco may run in the grade 1, and if Apples don't make the cut for the Ultima then they may consider the Kim Muir.
                I cannot find the exact quote Mark may have seen or heard but it stacks up with bits and pieces of comments over the last few days and I trust Mark.

                I've already backed them both for both so will see what happens. Just passing it on FYi.

                And Mark ? if you're reading this, bring back the Microwave background please, the Lime Green clashes with your eyebrows

                  Lucinda herself said that one of them will run in the ultima, she then went on to say that they were looking at the turners and rsa for giovinco which putting the dots tigether led me to apples coming here, s i think your spot on Q in your analysis....

                      Makes sense. Neither are good enough to win a non handicap at the Fez in my opinion.

                      • With the recent support for Meetingofthewaters, I’m wondering whether JP has purchased him?

                        Firstly, there’s the obvious JP - Paul Byrne connection.

                        We also know JP likes to buy horses to win races at the festival and the Ultima is about the only handicap he’s lacking a fav in.

                        MOTW has also been backed like a JP good thing this week, right in to favourite.

                        David Mullins also said something which took my attention on the RaceHour preview when putting him up for the Ultima. He said he’d rather own him than Corbetts Cross - that seemed like such a random comparison. Why compare him to Corbetts Cross who’s not even a handicapper?

                        I could be far wide of the mark but wondered if anyone had heard anything or had similar suspicions?

                        • If giovinco can jump well enough to stay in contention he will take some beating I reckon

                          They've campaigned him so badly hes ended up 8-10lb well in

                              Apple Away;
                              ‘Apple Away is our fourth runner down there and we will look at the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase and look at the Ultima. She might not get in the Ultima and after that we might look at one of the Amateurs’ races. We would like to run her in the Ultima if we could.”

                              Giovinco;
                              “Giovinco is in the Ultima and the Brown Advisory, and we will just have a look at the races and make a decision. He will go for one or the other.”
