  • I think I'll top up on Stumptown and leave any others until the day. Was hesitant at 8-1 but at 10's I'll go in on, cheers for the update

Can he turn around the strongest stat/trend of all in the race over those years ?? 0/10 Irish Trained

(0/17 if you want to take it further back)

No idea why it is though !!!???

38 runners in 17 years so on average 2 a year compared to the 20+ UK horses on average each year. They should have a higher number of runners this year and at better odds. One of those trends that will be broken in the next few years you'd think just based on the number of Irish runners increasing. Cromwell and de Bromhead bringing more of their chasers over to the Cheltenham meetings through the year as well and you'll probably get other Irish trainers doing it.

Haha, good point, although not a strong trend if we've no idea why it's happening

If I back Stumptown, which I feel I'm about to ..... I'll have backed 3 Irish for the race

It's a non-stat IMO. Will be broken soon. We had feckin Fastorslow beaten in it and he's walloped Galopin so only a matter of time

I've only backed The Goffer and really fancy him to win . Can only imagine the weight allotted to the Irish has been the reason over the years ? Just 3 I believe have won in the last 57 years !

We all know why Fastorslow got beat in the race don't we.

Nothing to do with ability, potential, his rating or the ride, nope, it's because he was Irish trained

No.....it's because he was rated 150 and needed to run to 157 to win

                    Exactly

He got put up 4lbs for that run

Had he run to 157 he'd have won

Needs to stay stronger than last year as well.
                      Lets hope he does.

Gordon felt he got there too early last year so expect a more patient ride.

147 looks high enough for him.

Does anyone know what the record is for horses at the festival that have fallen or unseated rider LTO?
