All his form is over the intermediate trip. I'd say it makes perfect sense to be honest. I think he'll end up in the Jack Richards, personally. He's got to make up 3 3/4 lengths with the current favourite of that race with a 6lb swing in his favour at the weights.

From Gault Stats: " 21 from the last 23 no more than one career fall"

So I'm not sure what Lobos is on about.

He's been staying on in most of those races so I had him down as a step up in trip. I'm pretty sure there are some quotes from King saying the step up to 3m is what he needs too.

All immaterial though if he's not going to turn up to the dance.

Tried it at Kempton, didn't he? Albeit a G1, he was closer to The Jukebox Man over 2m4f than he was over 3m. Kempton is a flat enough track to get the 3m too. Well behind Hyland that day also.

I think he's going to be one of those difficult to gauge what he wants, a stiff 2m4f or an easy 3m maybe, but Kempton was easy enough and he wasn't close to being competitive, so maybe just a stiff track over the intermediate trip.

I quite like him for this but it’s (like the Boodles asides from Gaelic warrior obviously) never a race I go mad on. I do quite like him though I have to say and will almost definitely be backing him in the coming days at 10s. Think he’s rock solid, is consistent, is clearly improving and an excellent jumper which is obviously a huge plus (even despite Lobos’ one fall stat).
Mainly as I missed prices mate.
So I’ve then been hoping Cheltenham wasn’t in their plans , as that was the vibes.
Just seen he’s declared for Saturday so probably is unlikely for Cheltenham although you never know

He's always outpaced over the intermediate trip before staying on again at the end, even his last race at Cheltenham confirmed that in my opinion. Kempton I'd give him a little bit of slack as I don't think it was lack of stamina that day. He didn't jump as good and he might not have liked the track or going right handed over fences.

Quotes below after his debut at Newbury defeat by The Jukebox Man.

Alan said:”I could not have been more pleased with Masaccio, but he was just chopped for pace early in the straight and looks to be crying out for a step up in trip.”

Tom Cannon agreed wholeheartedly, commenting:”It was a much stronger race than the one Masaccio won here last time, but he stuck his neck out from the last and ran all the way to the line. Moving up to three miles should suit him well.”

King is referring to E Perfecto not Masaccio.

I can see how he runs, that's not a problem, I understand how it looks, but seen plenty over the years that look like this, then don't actually get the step up in trip. There's more proof he's better over the intermediate trip than the staying trip.

When were these quotes? Before Kempton?

Strange how King has said he looks likely to go elsewhere and not the Ultima now!
