mullins isn't as quick as the likes of elliott to abandon graded plans for handicaps, the horse travelled into the race well last time and though was well held he wasn't disgraced at all.

I think mullins would be happy enough to let him go to the triumph as his second string provided he wins today and see if he can find the improvement necessary to get involved, especially as mullins already has the fave for the boodles and jp appears mob handed too.
Agreed. JP has a few darts at the Boodles and very little in the triumph. And Mullins might well know how well in the fav is in the Boodles... Expect him to be trying today and head to the triumph afterwards.

I backed vadaly nrnb for boodles this morning, her profile half interested me.

As a filly they’d have been trying to finish in the first 3 for black type so to finish 8 lengths off third I wouldn’t think they’ll be happy with the run.

              Cheers mate, tad late haha!

But it’s not WPM’s style to aim at handicaps so he’ll take his chance at the triumph

Yes good spot i've taken that and gone all in on the dark one. Not my favourite race so done with it now. Wanted to add The Tide Turns, but doubt it'll be as well treated as this lad.

                  • Honestly think I'd be more surprised if Fil Dor runs in the Triumph than if he came here.

Will Gordon really want him to take on Pied Piper and Vauban with the distinct possibility he has to settle for third at best?

I don't think so - specially based on his reputed plan to reroute Quilixios last year.

Reckon he'd much rather take his chance by giving Fil Dor a crack at Gaelic Warrior in the Boodles however much weight he has to concede.

And I speak as someone with a financial interest in Fil Dor in the Triumph and GW in the Boodles.

I keep coming back to Gordon's comment that he wants to be top trainer at the Festival this year - I believe that is a huge driving force for him this time round after missing out last year.

                    Hope I'm wrong.

Fil Dor may suit the new course more though.

Elliott should also remember that if he did put Quilixios in the Boodles last year, he probably would have had no winners as Quilixios wouldn't have been able to give Jeff Kidder over a stone and a half in weight and Zanahiyr bombed for whatever reason.

He’d be the worst handicapped horse in the race, and Gordon will multiple options miles better handicapped than him. If he wants to be top trainer he’d be better having 2 good darts in the triumph than adding a 4th or 5th to this race

                        • The owners also have a racing manager who has a large influence on where the horses go so it’s not completely Elliotts decision.

                          • The good thing is getting absolutely smashed for this in the market. That 13/2 I posted about was only 2 weeks ago! He’s being pummelled as expected for a horse with a stone in hand.
