  • Yep I'm all over Fil Dor for this, they tried him as their Arkle horse because Potter was all but booked for the turners from an early stage, he's always looked like he wanted further and he has that touch of grade 1 class the others probably lack. 16/1 I'll take a bit of that.

….reported he’s also riding Anna Bunina in the County. He has had a winner at Cheltenham (I think in a XC race).

          • This race as a weird trend -> horses that are reverting back to Hurdle do well in this, main focus on those that ran in graded races at the fez the previous year... or have ran in a big handicap at Cheltenham during the season

            2022 - Commander Of Fleet - Ex-Chaser, 1 run
2021 - Heaven Help Us - chaser reverted back to hurdles
2020 - Dame De Comp - chaser reverted back to hurdles
2019 - William Henry - chaser reverted back to hurdles
2018 - Blue Berry won, but Ballyandy was close 3rd by half a length - chaser reverted back to hurdles
2017 - Supasundae won, but Taquin Du Seuil was second, chaser reverted back to hurdles
2016 - Diamond King won, but Long House Hall was second, chaser reverted back to hurdles
            2015 - None
            2014 - None

Based on this 'weird' trend, the following could be of interest. Ideally want a horse in their second season

            Fil Dor
            Camprond
            Grand Roi
            Beacons Edge
            Saint Sam
            Sporting John

*could be others, havent looked in detail

Liking Fil Dor at the moment despite the weight for a 5 year old, then again - he's had to lump that around with him over fences for most of the season
We havent got anything from last years Supreme, Ballymore and AB. That Triumph was strong last year.
Not a fan of backing 5 years olds in open company, but this lad has put up some good performance already this season over fences. Good win after hurdles last time out, could improve for the step up in trip.

Camprond looks to be well handicapped on previous form, similar with Langer Dan. However, how much do I trust Hobbs to get one fit. Dan, more likely to pull it off.

            Anyway... just sharing

Focusing on Gordon for handicap hurdles is my main thought this year. So Fil Dor must be on the team.

                  Camprond will need good ground

Very interesting if it dries out

                      • Didn't really want to even look at this race as my record is atrocious.

It seems to favour the classier horses nowadays and the Irish will be the best of the hurdlers for me.

Which of these could I see in a grade 1 or 2 hurdle race next time and run a decent race over 2m4 or 3m:

                        Fil Dor Beacons Edge
                        HMS Seahorse
                        Run for Oscar
                        Icare Allen

That's me done with this race unless there's any Irish horses I've missed. I'll do various forecasts with them all and see how I get on!

I did consider forecasts / tricasts with the Irish horses that are claiming .... not sure what shortlist that would leave but will give it some more thought

I did that last year and planned my retirement. It ended badly and I hate my job.

Obviously, a year too early Jackie...

In saying that, I've sat down for the past hour and a half and looked at his Boodles runners. My head hurts and I'm none the wiser

Both of Caldwell Construction's are interesting in here. Presumably Davy not on Fil D'or because Gordon wants to claim 5, which is smart. I think FD has a massive chance if he stays.
