….was thinking beyond the obvious for this & wondering if you might have a point.

As per Saxon’s Planner, Black Tears came 2nd in this a few years ago before filling the same place in the Coral Cup. Anna Bunina might have gone under the radar a little coming 2nd today but has a Coral Cup entry. Ran today off 140 (Black Tears ran off 141 & 144 in Coral). AB recently filled 4th place behind Gaelic Warrior in the Liffey H’Cap which is seen as a decent trial for the Coral.

Not seen any post-race quotes but 33-1 (35-1 Lads boost) NRNB for this.

Very good post Eggs but I suspect Kevloaf was referring to Brandy Love...

…exactly, Kev suggested we’d just seen the winner of the Coral meaning Brandy Love. I agreed that we might have seen the winner of the Coral but added we need to look ‘beyond the obvious’ & Anna Bunina is the one.

Thats a great shout, I loved her out battling West Cork at Ayr last year and she fought for second yesterday. Anna Bunina just sounds like a festival winner ha

OK apologies, I misunderstood your post.
Anna Bunina is a decent horse, what would worry me about her is that for such a young horse she's had a huge amount of racing, 29 starts in three years (both flat and NH) and has been on the go (not been more that 2 months without a race) since New Years Day 2022, she seems to be holding her form OK but could pull the shutters down any time...

I found myself nodding at that.

Obviously nonsense, but she just does, what a shout

                • Has anything been said about zanahiyr favoring this race or the county?

seems like there was a physical issue bothering him at the start of the season according to Elliot’s stable tour, would be interested in what mark he gets as I thought his champion hurdle run last year was a big improvement and was hoping he’d kick on this year like teahupoo has, hasn’t happened yet but he travelled a bit better last time out.

if he is coming back to his best he could actually end up pretty well in even as one of the top weights.

                  • Brewin’upastorm not going to Cheltenham according to Olly Murphy - on ATR after the race (clip still on their Twitter feed) - was mentioned on the Podcasts

County according to DC on preview night.

Think it was Denis O'Regan, who actually has a connection to the yard and rode him LTO, so should really know what he's talking about...

Sorry, of course it wasn't DC it was DOR who said County was the plan.

                          • I think David Casey stated that Brandy Love would be heading to the Mares Hurdle at that preview night, I still think this race is the plan and if it's not their Plan A it's certainly in their thinking...

Weight she gets will be one of the first I look for.

I think she'd go off fav for this, and I'm a sucker for a value non-runner

8 length winner of a G1 will ensure she won't be sneaking in at the bottom though she's one I don't think will get overly taxed, she's 146 in Ireland (may drop a pound), I can see her UK mark being very similar, 147/148 and she'd have a serious chance....
