  • I'm gonna throw in this horse for this and take a risk, and apologies if its already been mentioned. But for some reason I like Riders onthe storm for this. I'm actually quite surprised it's priced up at 25/1. And last race it actually ran a decent race at the wrong trip it normally races. Horse prefers 2m or 2m 4f. It was running over 2m 8 last time which does not suit. Made the running that day with good jumping and got beat by horses who were improvers and tbh it only weakened the last few furlongs. Rated 139, has won on rating 140 and running higher in the past. Only downside is it's not ran well at the course but I don't know if its because when it was running over 2m 4 it found the horse out. So I'm thinking the horse needs to be out front like what Global citizen did last year and just lead with a decent gallop like it did last time at Ascot. The horse has won before doing something similar in the past and that 25s I'm taking for this.

On numbers I'd say probably, but the quotes for this race are less easy to find and a few near the top look like running and others have been backed, so can't be as sure with this in my own mind.
Henry, Joseph and Mcmanus are the key, as they could run one or two or go in mob handed.

He's 0-6 in March/April. Don't want to put you off him for 'no' reason, but I don't think he holds his form through to the spring although he does have a decent record in February.

I had him for the Aintree race at the start of this season - put it on someone's diary and then warned that he might not keep his form through the year so there's a chance I'm biased towards that view still but I'd be very keen on him for the same race next season off a similar mark if he went but couldn't have him here.

The last of the NRNB 25's (with Corals and Ladbrokes) went overnight and into 16's with them now.

25's still available with 365 but not NRNB.

              • Kevin Blake wrote an interesting article about the handicap ratings and the UK leniency vs Irish tax. Interestingly Rouge Vif follows a similar trend set by two big priced (25/1 & 28/1) winners last year (Global Citizen & Third Wind) so not surprised he was keen!

…he mentioned this on last nights ATR Preview. Said Irish chasers are at a huge disadvantage from the handicapper & gave Rouge Vif a positive shout.

                  • When Rouge Vif won his last race which was far and away his most impressive performance, Darryl Jacob rode him for the first time and hasn't ridden him since. Harry whittingham says he'll use DJ whenever he's available. Hopefully that'll be for the GA. Not sure whether he'll be riding anything else? If not, that'll be another huge plus.

                      • There isn't a horse on 136 so I presume Greenwood meant 135 or 137.

I take it these are guesses based on previous runnings of the race? Or does he have some information regarding horses pulling out?

                              • I'm surprised there hasn't been more chat about Dad's Lad for this. 2/2 over Fences on better ground including beating Editeur Du Gite by 13l. Been tucked away since November after running in the summer and his mark of 138 looks lovely for this. He's got entry in the Plate too but his better form looks over 2m. 14's looks big here
