Totally agree Liam. Very taking performance and hard to know how much more improvement he has in him, I thought 7/1 was short enough, but I think several of those prominent in the betting will go elsewhere so ending up having a couple of points on. Could see him being 4/1 fav on the day.

I think he could be abit of a talking horse across the preview nights especially comparing the French form and his improvements FTO over here.

agree that he could also only go one way in price given a few in the market won’t run and his target has been confirmed

A ten year old French horse, for Phillip Hobbs, single figures for a festival handicap chase, gonna go off fav?

        Read it back.

I'm only joking, just very surprised... when he won at the weekend I didn't even think about Cheltenham for him.... looks like I am very much in the minority though given the prices!

                    A Novice - rated over 150 - winning a Cheltenham festival handicap ??

It's only ever happened once. And he wasn't really a novice, as it was his third season chasing.

A stat like that wouldn't put me off backing the right horse for the right reasons. It's happened once and it will happen again. Bit like putting a line through Willies horses in handicap chases as he's never won one. It will happen eventually.

I agree about the stats side Charlie but surely bolting up by 10 lengths & going up 8lbs in the process is not a good way to win a festival hcap?….especially as they’ll be a few more G1 novice also rans in this off a few lbs lower along with the Irish. He was also very well fancied last yr over hurdles & flopped badly. Each to their own but if you can win this off 152 then he’s a border line G1 performer - and I personally just don’t see that myself. All a game of opinions though!

He's really unexposed which makes the take on how much 8lbs will impact him moving forward highly subjective, and completely down to personal opinion. Last year doesn't bother me as he was injured mid race so the performance was explainable, but I thought that was very tidy LTO. Horses have run to a similar level and gone on to win G1's at the festival, so he could very well improve and be on that borderline. He'd need to be to win off 152, but its happened before and it will happen again.
