This may be true, but Gordon has a few others he could potentially send to this race. He may just keep Mortal in the XC as he ran a fair race the last time.

Unless the argument can be made that all 5 that finished infront of him were all ahead of their marks.
He was too close to an overly strong pace for me there - he only faded late on as a result and with a more patient ride he could definitely have finished closer

….possibly, but somebody has posted that this is Mortal’s target. I suppose he might have that wrong.

As of the 22/12 when i sat in the bar with the owner 100% had the Thyestes as his next run and they had the Kim Muir for March earmarked. He's very good friends with GE.

As with the same owner (ran the Ravenhill syndicate) he was planned for the KM before a late change, which i put up on here.......it's very possible things will change. For a start the horse might not spark like they hope he has after his x-c showing. He's always been a pretty inconsistent being.

Good thing with a horse like Mortal is he's not in the public eye at all. So if backing with 365 i'd hope we'd get to cash out if he's injured or his target changes....

I had a look through, and while he'll have others that become contenders, i don't think he has a load. Maybe Floueur or however it's spelt?

Mortal's handicap mark has dropped so much i'd think it would be daft for them not go handicapping- whether that's in March or not is another thing.

Coming from Joseph, i think there should be improvement like Smoking Gun. Gordie just is far better training chasers.

Definite Plan, who already has a Cheltenham win to his name, he'll most definitely get in, and of similar profile to Ravenhill.

There is another as well, but I've not got my list in front of me right now, so I've forgotten who that was.

Floueur ran a great race at the Festival last year - finishing a staying-on third to Galopin Des Champs in the Pipe, beaten 11 lengths trying to give him 1lb.

Thought it was astute of Gordon to put him up against Galopin again on his chase debut. Duly thrashed with Davy pulling the strings.

Seems to jump well and this race is probably his optimum trip. Reckon he'll get in here between 135 and 140 which would give him a great chance.

Hills have him 20-1 for this and 16-1 TWAR. He's 16-1 for this with 365.

Yeah, one I've also been keeping tabs on. He's been in the notebook since that Martin Pipe.

Hard not for him to be mentioned and I'm surprised it took as long is it did from someone on the forum to name him, as he's with Gordon, and looks an obvious 'plot' given the distances he's been running at and what he actually looks like he needs.

not sure if plans have changed regards Mortal , but that's a pretty big move across the board for the x country , i know a lot of folk might have got on for the Kim Muir after somebody mentioned that as a target , maybe want to have a wee think about the possibility things have altered since then

….yep, I took a bit of insurance covering the XC earlier because its a Cliff horse of mine. I would prefer the KM & hope the reaction is due to that training video.

Seems an odd move, given his mark.
Likely a tipster has put him up somewhere.
Why run in this race off levels ?
If they think he'd win this race against higher rated more experienced rivals, then surely he'd have an even better chance in a handicap.

Having said that, they simply may intend running here, before possibly taking in another handicap, can't remember how much the Irish handicapper takes into account x country runs.

Matt Tombs supposedly the tipster in question, I’m surprised he’s moved markets like that but I guess it’s any excuse these days. Fully agree it makes no sense to go here off levels unless it’s purely the owners wanting a day out
