Unless the argument can be made that all 5 that finished infront of him were all ahead of their marks.

As with the same owner (ran the Ravenhill syndicate) he was planned for the KM before a late change, which i put up on here.......it's very possible things will change. For a start the horse might not spark like they hope he has after his x-c showing. He's always been a pretty inconsistent being.
Good thing with a horse like Mortal is he's not in the public eye at all. So if backing with 365 i'd hope we'd get to cash out if he's injured or his target changes....

Mortal's handicap mark has dropped so much i'd think it would be daft for them not go handicapping- whether that's in March or not is another thing.
Coming from Joseph, i think there should be improvement like Smoking Gun. Gordie just is far better training chasers.

There is another as well, but I've not got my list in front of me right now, so I've forgotten who that was.

Thought it was astute of Gordon to put him up against Galopin again on his chase debut. Duly thrashed with Davy pulling the strings.
Seems to jump well and this race is probably his optimum trip. Reckon he'll get in here between 135 and 140 which would give him a great chance.
Hills have him 20-1 for this and 16-1 TWAR. He's 16-1 for this with 365.

Hard not for him to be mentioned and I'm surprised it took as long is it did from someone on the forum to name him, as he's with Gordon, and looks an obvious 'plot' given the distances he's been running at and what he actually looks like he needs.

not sure if plans have changed regards Mortal , but that's a pretty big move across the board for the x country , i know a lot of folk might have got on for the Kim Muir after somebody mentioned that as a target , maybe want to have a wee think about the possibility things have altered since then

….yep, I took a bit of insurance covering the XC earlier because its a Cliff horse of mine. I would prefer the KM & hope the reaction is due to that training video.Last edited by Eggs; 9 January 2022, 04:07 PM.

Likely a tipster has put him up somewhere.
Why run in this race off levels ?
If they think he'd win this race against higher rated more experienced rivals, then surely he'd have an even better chance in a handicap.
Having said that, they simply may intend running here, before possibly taking in another handicap, can't remember how much the Irish handicapper takes into account x country runs.
