On one hand people complain about small field sizes in the graded races, but then you have McCoy slating owners because they want to run a horse in a grade 1 who's good enough to run in a grade 1, instead of running away to a handicap.
I backed Giovinco for the Ultima and have him in the BANC from earlier in the season, would have liked his chances in the Ultima more but I don't see what's wrong with owners wanting to run in the better races if they think he has a chance.

Yes he’d have a better chance in the Ultima, almost a favs chance for me, but why no go for the Grade 1.

It's not as if he's some kind of no hoper either. He's had one bad run this season, and finished 1.5l off the current BANC second fave before that, on another day he might have won if the jockey was able to delay his run longer. There's question marks over a fair few of the runners in the BANC and Turners so I can see why the owners would think they might be able to go close in one of those races.
