It doesn’t have to be. I’d make greater changes, but as I say probably not the time to get into that.

Mind you, we’d have all been on Dancing City at 8/1 in your scenario.

My thoughts are affected slightly by this race not suiting my approach to betting I’m sure.

    • One thing of possibly note is Henry's form:

Workahead - out like a light
July Flower - out like a light

The Short Go ran well, probably didn't quite find what I would have hoped after travelling well and Sky Lord was 50/1 so would t take much notice.

Only 2 wins in the last 2 weeks, 8% strike rate. Doesn't have anything in single figures over the next 2 days but has the fav in the AB in The Big Westerner

JP was quoted saying he wants to win the plate as he hasn't done so yet as well as a few other races and hopes to tick at least 1 of the list of ones he hasn't won.

So basically he's running there because JP hasn't won it.

Got the 20-1 sky put up by mistake so fingers crossed. Form don’t look great now so not holding my breath.

            • Yesterday was a slightly underwhelming day.
kopeks des bordes won the supreme, but did we expect something visually better?

It was a strongly run race, run in an overall quicker time than the champion.
Of course that doesn't tell the whole story with state man seemingly coasting to victory before falling at the last, allowing Golden Ace to pick up the pieces.

I think it's fair to suggest the times wouldn't have been far apart had he not fell , with state man appearing to have a bit left in the tank.

I'd conclude it was a very good performance from kopeks des bordes, if not visually spectacular, and not quite at the level constitution hill produced a few years ago.

Golden Ace winning the champion hurdle encapsulated all that is jumps racing in to less than 4 minutes of pure astonishment.

I think it's fair to suggest she would've been 2nd had state man not fell, beating brighterdaysahead for the 2nd festival running. BDA fans will say she hasn't run her race, but maybe she has run to her level at this course?
I can't take anything but positives out of the result with a view to Lucky place for the stayers, my pocket is certainly viewing it that way anyhow.

Golden ace is golden horns only festival winner(twice) as things stand. With nemean lion(stayers), east india dock ( triumph) and possibly first street ( county) I wouldnt rule out that tally being added to this week.

The Arkle. I'm not going to sit here and write " I told you " about Majborough because he is clearly a very talented horse, with a serious engine.
His jumping of fences is clearly going to be an issue, stepping up in trip will allow him to take his time a bit more but I'm not convinced he'll ever be a good enough jumper.

Jango baie absolutely deserved the victory, he's been up the hill twice now, both times like an absolute train.
With Bugise seagull having the form with jango baie from last season, I'll take the positives from this result.

I thought Lossiemouth was a level above her rivals, 3 time festival winner now, still only 6. She could potentially go to 5 or 6 couldn't she? But hopefully they put a ratings cap on the Mares hurdle and it won't be in that, but the way she sees out 2m4f which way do you go with her?

From a betting perspective I lost some nice looking trebles I had involving constitution hill, after Tripoli flyer was declared a non runner that left me with only gericault roque as an antepost single yesterday.

I've got some singles today, sixmilebridge in the turners although haven't got much of a bigger price than he's available at today. 20s my best on him.

on the other hand I've got comfort zone at 25's for the Coral Cup, lets hope he runs well. I've also ballyadam in the coral cup, but Henry's horses look a bit undercooked.

After yesterdays results jango baie and golden ace winning, I'd encourage anybody who has a spare quid to put it on the AaronLad Thurday Double....

Bugise Seagull 25/1 pertemps 7places skybet
lucky place 13/2 stayers 4places skybet

              194/1.

I am already on both as singles but might just follow this in as a bit of interest. After Con Hill hitting the deck i want Teahupoo beaten as i am now left with nothing on him. I don't think he is that strong a fav anyway..... or maybe i am just willing it to get beat

                      • Still trying to compute everything from yesterday but as mentioned, the De Bromhead form has to be a concern. Although i am glad he didn't, Workahead should have improved about 8lbs from his beating of William Munny, or was Munny really THAT undercooked when they met? You could see that July Flower was beaten at the top of the hill. His horses ran like Nickys did last year. Ran well but then just cut out for no reason. I had 4 horses backed in August for the Supreme all each way, Salvator Mundi, William Munny, Romeo Coolio and Kopek Des Bordes, i should have just bloody stopped then I was already on Gala Marceau and Jetara in the Mares as each way plays before Lossie came back into it so just left it alone. That was the first time i have ever seen Gala Marceau run without being keen and was fixed on her, she latched onto the back of the pack and was just about to get going when she came down. No chance she would have got to Lossie though. The William Munny form has to be a positive for Marine Nationale, when Connell talks his horses up, you know he isn't bullshitting. Although Jonbon is still rock solid, after watching that yesterday you just get the feeling he isn't as solid as maybe he should be. The early drift on Salvator Mundi was justified, he wasn't finishing that race from the first furlong. The early gamble on Bunting i will take as a positive. Myretown i have backed all season and unbelievably i fell into the Whistlestoptour trap because every man and his dog put him up even though i he was never on my radar. I guarantee i would have backed Myretown if i would have shut my ears and blanked out the external noise.

I was sent a message by a member last night about a couple of horses that their yard feel have solid chances and has given me permission to share the info. Not tips by any means but just good feelings. The info has come from the yards race planner. I am already on one of them and i think a lot are but i will post it in the 'Under the radar' thread when i get back from the bookies. They are running Thursday and Friday. If they both come in i will credit the FJ member but if they both get stuffed, i will keep you anonymous

                        • Nice enough story from yesterday as I went down with 7 other lads, including 5 who'd never been to cheltenham and a couple who'd never been to a race course.
They were all asking me for tips and as I have multiple in each race then it's difficult.
I smashed the first three races, although some good looking multiples went down.
Then I ended up on my own watching the champion near the finish line, and was fucking gobsmacked at virtually everything, the slower fractions from the pacemaker, Con Hill falling, then I'm thinking it's in the bag for my main play (reminded me of the Apples Jade champion when Buvuer fell and also the Kauto fall vs Denman, I was on both for plenty) only to very quickly see how well State Man (looked like he was on drugs) was going and pretty much knew my fate.
Then shit happened and the mare comes out of the carnage.

Gets back into the Istabraq bar and every single one of the lads had backed fucking Golden Ace at 40's.
Paid for their days out and some.
