      • Why is it Paul Nicholls hasnt had a genuine grade 1 horse in years. He always gets these horses like regents stroll, Kalif Du Berlais who at first threaten to have the potential, but deep down you just know they will fall short. He obviously does a great job with the horses he has, but whats the deal here.

        • Can anyone tell me where and when the race that the Fred Winter horses all trial in is please? It's thrown up loads of winners of the race over the years. Ireland, of course.
          Thanks.

Will be in Saxon Warrior Irish Race planning diary in the members section

My best guess is you mean the Boxing Day, Limerick race

Won by Band of Outlaws as a random one that popped in to my head

Thanks. I had a feeling it was nearer the festival but you are probably right. I think it pays to follow the placed horses?

Yeah, the race at Naas is usually a key race of note.

                    I don't know

Would have to have something to do with relationships with owners I suppose - unable to keep big spenders happy? Relative to other trainers

Times change, he was the absolute Daddy when I got in to the sport .... since then the power has shifted over to Ireland and he's maybe not adapted as well as others have?

He's not really winning big Saturday races anymore either... it's kind of sad, although never met the man so others may be better placed to say

One major reason is that Tom Malone buys a lot for him and he's utter shite at his job compared to Kirk and the ones buying for Henderson.

The race only started in 2018, and in its last 6 runnings, 4 Boodles winners have ran in it, with 3 winning.

                          ●Band of Outlaws - Won
                          ●Aramix - Won
                          ●Brazil - Won
●Jazzy Matty (was 4th in it)

Then they all Won the Boodles next time out.
