  • I still think we'll see some of those old G1 horses in the XCC as there's nowhere else they can go. There will be a glut of them at the top of the Hcp with everything else at the bottom or running Out of the Hcp. A race I'll be leaving until the week to bet in.

      A wise move imo

I can confirm a sighting of Killiney minus the rose.

        • Ladbrokes seem to have lost the plot with my account. I'm a regular but small stakes punter - £20 is a large bet for me on racing and I have only rarely gone above that on football. They sent me a message a couple of days ago to say that my limits have been reviewed. My monthly loss limit is now £5k and my annual deposit cap is £100k

They say "Taking above limits into consideration, you can currently deposit up to 5,245 GBP". They have never asked me for any information about my finances (if they did I would tell them to feck off). I also have an account with Coral but I'm less active with them so have no idea what triggered this.

Has anyone else had a similar odd experience? This seems completely mental given the experience others have had with affordability checks.

EDIT - same offer from Coral!!

I’m similar to you in my betting and got the same message from Lads

Got the same, think it's very reasonable tbh.

I'll never get over 5k in a month - could even argue that 2.5k (approximately the median wage in the UK) is a worthwhile loss level. Either of those figures is how affordability should be done - not the bullshit lose £125 in a month and we'll check if you can afford it that is being thrown about - imagine being checked if you could afford a £125 mobile phone....

I've had the same email also. Rarely use Ladbrokes either.

Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy with this. I'll never get within miles of these limits. I am also very much against the affordability checks proposals. At some point in the next few months I'll be trading in our car for a newer model. That will involve spending several grand and I don't expect anything over than a polite enquiry about my earnings where I could make up a figure if I wanted to. The thing that baffles me is that this is totally out of kilter with the affordability check proposals from earlier in the year. My gut feel is that someone will complain to the Gambling Commission about this and Ladbrokes/Coral will get a kicking for doing this as the GC view will be that they are encouraging people to gamble more.

                  • Going report for next week's Betfair. It has been foggy and soggy all week bar a couple of days. Was raining when i went to the gym at 3am and only stopped about an hour ago. Showers forecast for tomorrow and persistent rain forecast for Monday so those wanting soft in the description, i think it's highly likely now.

                        6 days a week.

I am used to it now. Works in well with being able to use anything i like in the gym and having time before work. It's heaving any time after 5.30am so just drag my carcass up earlier. I am in beast mode at the minute, it might be a 7 day week this week i will decide after the darts later

I could never get along with early morning training, still half asleep and would end up putting more weight on one side of the bar or picking up two different size dumbbells and wondering why i felt weak on one side !

Cold water on the face, pre-workout drink or creatine before you leave and straight into a heavy lift soon peps you up. I make Mondays a quick session, upper chest and triceps and you are out in 30-40 mins and makes you want to continue through the week

Exactly the reason i go when i do. I have the place basically to myself. I only use barbells for squatting, rowing and some curling. Any heavy presses i use dumbbells. Better for balance too, stops you cheating on your stronger side
