Do they have irrigation at Newcastle? Surely they’re watering plenty already! Given the dry spell and the drop in temperatures as well. It’s the premier fixture and the best horse in training arguably running at your track.

      Yep.

Nicky is in a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario with Con Hill. Runs him and picks up an injury, the 'why did he run him on that ground' brigade turn up, doesn't run him and the 'wrapping him up in cotton wool' brigade turn up.

I'd not want to see him or any other top profile horse out until the ground is suitable, much to the dismay of some I'm sure.

Feels like every clerk is petrified of watering all of a sudden in case the rain comes and destroys the ground through the winter. Obviously I get that watering "artificially raises the water table" (my quotation marks), but at what point does winter start and end because good to firm ground in November is just ridiculous...

Exactly that mate, I’m down with some mates for a night out and was contemplating going but definitely holding fire until decs to know if he is running or not.

Hi GV - I’ll be there on Friday. I’m normally found in the Insurance Bar, how about you?

                          • General question re: parking at Cheltenham.

I'm planning on heading to HQ for the Saturday of the Xmas meeting.
I've only ever gone for the festival, parked miles from the course and walked in.

Is onsite parking an option for the "smaller" meetings?
Or is still wise to park further out

                            Any advice welcome.

Hi to Cheltenham Novice Chase, GV et al. For what it’s worth I will also be in the Insurance Bar it would be great to put a face to a name. I won’t be having a rose in my teeth but I’m sure we can sort something out.
