Not stupid at all, but the novice minimum number of runs still applies, any novice winning a qualifier will not qualify if they haven't run five times....

    • The trend is likely to change this year with the new rules so I'll tread carefully, I think most if not all of the last 10 winners came 3rd or 4th in their qualifier, keeping their weight down. Will be interesting to see how it changes things this year. Maybe entering 'easier' qualifiers

I think they've made a bit of a mess of the qualification criteria personally.
They've reduced the number of qualifying races and the qualifiers from each race, there can now only be 48 possible horses that qualify for the final and the five race rule for novices is likely to reduce the field further so an undersubscribed race is more likely than not.
I was at HQ and refused to have a bet in the race yesterday, you win the race and get a hike in mark more than likely ending any hope of winning the final, just seems an underwhelming race now...

          • What is the best free horse racing tracker out there?

I am using timeform but not all horses seem to be on it

            • I use Timeform too but unraced horses under rules are seldom on there regardless of reputation

Quite like the mares novice hurdle going on first - it's results being a mix of short priced favs and some pretty long shots late in the day always gives the course a bit of a punting desperation vibe

….yep, I got one of those. My understanding is the fee only applies to accounts with a ‘positive balance’.

….ha, ha, the trick is to keep the balance at zero.

I think that's always been a thing, or for a good while anyway

Ista says Corbetts won't be fully wound up. Prepping for Betfair chase so don't be surprised to see him get beat. His BC price could drift if he's beat which won't be a bad thing for those like me who haven't backed him yet.
