Kientzheim, Junta Marvel, Maughreen and Venusienne all also on the radar though so Willie looks pretty stacked on the young mares. Bit of an impossible part of the Mullins puzzle to unpick for me though not through want of trying. Junta Marvel has an injury to overcome. Maughreen will 100% be aimed here but can't help wonder if Willie would just throw a raft of them in if all good enough or hold some back for Mares Bumpers or Mares Hurdles elsewhere. I know nothing about Kientzheim or Venusienne other than JP has bought Kientzheim so she could certainly be aimed here. Very tricky but i am trying to find value against Maughreen. I can't back her at 3/1. That's just the Mullins charge.

Echoing Silence is at the top of my list and in light of Spectre's mid week video, closely followed by Gale Mahler and then Diva Luna not in Closutton
FWIW Kientzheim is with Hendo Yosser

The 2 I like in the race that have been bought are Venusienne and Karoline Banbou

Venusienne was bought last October so will definitely be novice hurdling this season all being well. She was 2nd on her only start in the Girls Prix Finot to Ginagold. The winner has yet to run again in FR and there isn't too much form to go off in behind her. The 5th Kind Lovely been placed in a couple of listed chases, but Venusienne definitely gave off the impression she was an exciting recruit to IRE.

Karoline Banbou is another JP purchase and she is one coming off the flat. She was bought Dec 23' so again you would hope that she'd see a track this upcoming season, but ultimately may be one to look out for in the stable tours. Her form on the flat reads nicely, she's been 2nd twice to a certain Kamaro D'huez and finishing infront of Khrisma (a now JP/Hendo recruit). Kamaro D'huez has since gone on to finish 2nd in a hotly contested hurdle at Auteuil finishing behind Karam Le Rouge and infront of the also now JP recruit Kawaboomga. Kamaro then won a class 3 hurdle at Auteuil and won a G1 AQPS race back on the flat at Longchamp on his latest outing, he is entered next week so will be worth watching out for how he goes

Don't know where i got Willie from with Kientzheim. I have written that down too. The amount of new horses this season beginning with the letter 'K' is ridiculous I have 15 names written down for the Ryanair and nothing past the letter 'L' but... i digress

I like the fact Venusienne has been here a while, that's what makes Salvator Mundi so strong for me in the Supreme. A solid year of being looked after and strengthening up. Karoline Banbou is interesting. I will look into that. In the timeform horses to follow book, Patrick Mullins highlights another French import to follow called Karniquet (Another 'K') but not a mare.

      P. Mullins
"Karniquet is a new French horse we've bought. He's a four year old so he's not a juvenile and is going to be a novice hurdler. He's by Kapgarde and was second at Pau and Auteuil in two runs. It's obviously early days and we haven't got to peek under the bonnet at all but he looks like a horse that should be winning plenty of races this season"

I think that there is a naming system in France and elsewhere on the continent where the leading initial of a horses name corresponds with their birth year. I presume 2020 was the letter ‘K’. I don’t know the ins and outs of it all, as not all horses born in 2020 have ‘K’ as their leading initial, but a lot do. I think it may just be the AQPS horses.

That’s why we’ve got so many novice hurdle candidates whose names start with ‘K’ this year. A couple of years ago, there were a load of J’s.

And it surely can’t be coincidence that in this race of 12 x 4yos, all 12 names began with ‘K’.

          • We now have access to the middle of the course for the cross country. Huzzah. It was one of the points I suggested at the consultation. Personally I love the race. I know it’s not for everyone in march

                • Completely unrelated to anything really but i put 1 ante post bet on today for Cheltenham. £10 e/w on a 33/1 shot. I won't name the horse, race or bookie for obvious reasons but instantly crashed the price into 20's. So that's it. Multi million pound meeting and the market can shift with a 20 quid bet

I put bets on for my elderly father and Slybet won't even take £2.50 each way at SP. Shocking.

This is my last unrestricted account i have left and i have been through them all, and i mean all of them. 5 years or so it's taken to lose them. That will change after Cheltenham. My other one got restricted last weekend because i got Robert Johnson at 20/1 at a measly fiver e/w. Most of my bets are done in the shops but some horses are only available online at the moment. Can't wait to bin the online bookies off in March. Unless something drastic happens between now and then they will be losing another good punter, but that's what they want. I hope and pray they get super regulated on gaming and casino's in the near future and lose all their easy money. They will be begging for racegoers to come back but it will be too late by then.

They’ll all scum these days, there’s not a proper bookmaker out there, I think younger punters have only ever known this so it’s acceptable behaviour, it’s us dinosaurs who remember what the game used to be like who fire up.
I had similar with Unibetba few years ago, small plays and prices change, inevitably the account got massively restricted soon after….

Won’t happen my friend, I’m convinced bookmakers don’t want horse racing punters because the bigger the turnover the bigger their contribution to the levy, it’s a staggering situation the way racing is funded, bookmakers have the ability to destroy racing and because they make far more money from other sports (and casino as you say) I think they’d be happy to shut racing down…

Oh yeah Ista, it's become very apparent in the past few years that they don't want horse racing punters. Well, specifically, ante post punters or ones that can spot a decent priced winner. They treat us with distain as though our money we hand over is different to anybody else's. I was in a local bookie first thing yesterday. It had been open for 5 minutes. I went in to get on Il Est Francais for the KG because it was obvious what was going to happen about 4.05pm and there were 2 fellas already in there perched on their machines playing slots. Drives me up the wall that racing gets targeted with the facade that they are somehow protecting us by stopping winners when there is a much bigger cultural problem that all pretty much ties in with slots, roulette and the ridiculous amount of available bets you can have on a game of football. Remove instant win gaming and only offer football coupons and over/under goals and things would improve almost overnight. If bookies really cared about preventing poverty and gambling addictions, they would remove these destructive tools amongst a few others.

Bookies care as much about issues resulting from gambling as the poppy farmers do about drug addicts....

                              • Anybody that has ordered One Jump Ahead. I have just had an e-mail from WH Smith saying they have requested the stock from the supplier and will e-mail me when they have sent it out so i assume that means it's ready to be dispersed to the shops.
