Wait till he runs Kev. I would be concerned he has been exposed to a virus in the yard and they have deemed it necessary to give him a wind op. A few horses have struggled to regain form when returning from lung infections (not suggesting it was a lung infection but does anyone know exactly what was affecting his horses?).

You may well be right Jim and Lobos , The way i read it is , they done his wind to help with the Colic issue ??.
and that after the wind op , he's 100 % .., better to do it now before the season starts ..
but i always take what people say as Gospel .. so there might be more to it ..

Don't think the wind op is related to colic or his infection BC ? Plenty of trainers just do them for the sake of it which I've never liked. I believe it was looked into how many horses actually improved after the op and it was only a small amount. The majority actually went backwards. We'll know soon enough re CH as the Fighting 5th is coming round fast.

Spectre., as you mention, it’s just a pointless ‘news’ story. If Kyprios can return to near career best form less than a year after facing a life threatening illness, then why on earth wind ‘op’s get people talking negatively,I have no idea. It’s just news to fill news. This time last year he was sitting around 4/5 - the 2/1 (and 7/2) available a few months ago I believe are huge prices.

Does anyone know how the handicapper works out the rating for a French import?

I always had it in my head they would times the French rating by 2.2, is this correct?
