      • Paul Ferguson's book is published tomorrow. At this stage of the season, it could be as little as a positive write up.

        • I really like Il Est Francais for the King George as well. As Kev says can’t really use the form in behind to beat him with as he travelled and jumped superbly, like an established chaser, it was the best novice chase performance all season for me.

Another summer to strengthen up and he could be some sight in the big one this Boxing Day. Fastorslow would have the best form of course but would need to be A1 if Il Est Francais turns up in a similar mood to last year.

          • I think Fact to File will go for KG. But now is not the time to back Him. Most likely JD will be used for a prep run, will be only be half fit, and wont be given a hard time, like all his seasonable debuts.

Reasons why i think F2F will run in KG.

            1) Mullins will go for back to back UK Championships
            2) JP has never won the KG, and has other horses for LT at Xmas (CX, Spillans tower, IKTWYT)
            3) Why would Mullins want to run F2F against GDC 3 times before the GC? He always prefers to split his bet horses up and target many G1 as possible.

Best time to back F2F for the KG is once he gets beat in JD, and hopefully pushed out to double digits. Will see a different horse one month later at Xmas

            • there's a final furlong podcast with paul ferguson - novice chasers to follow. doesn't sound like ferguson has much insight on mullins novice chasers (or saving it for the book). if he doesn't have mullins insight it's going to disappoint some readers I think

always enjoy hearing what's he has pickes up from the yards

He rarely does tbh. I probably buy it at this point to keep up a collection and see if there's anything of interest we may have missed this side of the water. OJA is the must have book imo.

                • Just saw on my twitter feed according to Josh Stacey - Jeriko du Reponet, Jango Baie, Iberico Lord and Shanagh Bob confirmed to go chasing. No plans with Sir Gino as of yet.

Had messages of the same but Sir Gino staying hurdling I was told, which is what Nicky had already said previously.

                      • Mark Howard put an update out on the 2/9/24 about one jump ahead.in the update theres a bit from Rich Ricci saying "would be nice to think he would develop into a major contender for the Triumph" And to think the price crash on Willy De Houelle started a few days before! Bloody chrome book wouldnt let me cut and paste it.

                        • Min The Merciless just seen Josh Stacey’s tweet now as well.

Is it just me or anyone else that seen it not think it could be taken as a worry for Constitution Hill that Sir Ginos decision may be based on how he does in the Fighting Fifth?!

Unless Josh has picked that up wrong.

                            • For any Iroko fans

"I can confirm Iroko will return to action on November 3rd in the Colin Palmer Chase at Carlisle over 2m4f. The season target is the Grand National & Cheltenham may not be on the agenda this time around."

I'd say that's a wise move by JP given all the weapons at his disposal this season.

My first defeat of the season. I had covered him for the Ryanair at 66/1 but I think it was worth the punt at that price
