  • Anyone following the surfing?

"Surfers will compete off the coast of Teahupo'o, a village on the southwestern coast of Tahiti, known globally for its powerful waves. This choice, Olympic organizers say, was in "alignment with Paris 2024's ambition to spread the Games across France."

    Tahiti being historically French Polynesia.

I assume it's what our current favourite stayer is named after.

    • 2 French recruits in the green and gold registered to Nicky Henderson today.

KHRISMA and KIENTZHEIM - two nice types on paper...

            • Backed the Willie treble that's been mooted on here for a week or so.

              Arkle - Ballyburn
              Brown Advisory - Dancing City
              Turners - Impaire Et Passe

A very nice pay out if they win.

However I like a bit of coverage and im a fan of Slade Steel, ascwell as Henry so coverage bet placed......

Arkle - Ballyburn Brown Advisory - Dancing City
              Turners - Slade Steel

Do you think Slade Steel will step up in trip? I personally think it wouldn't do any harm but HDB likes the slowly slowly approach. He does however, still have Inthepocket but now at 7 years old i do wonder if JP would want him going into open company.

                • Just thought they'd swerve Ballyburn again as it worked for them last March. Worth a fiver treble anyway !!

There are a million angles into Willies novice chasers isn't there i honestly think Mirazur West will be the spoiler to a few horses. Bred to be a chaser and i think yet to get decent ground. I can see a lot of improvement in him this season. I think if Jeriko Du Reponet goes chasing (I am completely writing off his Supreme run) he would favour the 2m trip over MW though. Another reason i think Inthepocket could just go out to open company.

But we are in silly season and anything is possible

                    • Spade steel will avoid ballyburn, because ballyburn will stay hurdling

                      • The one I really fancy for the arkle and looks like a proper chaser is Firefox imo of course

                        • Don't forget it's highly likely that Irish Point will go novice chasing this season, and you'd think given both him and Slade Steel are in Robcour ownership, they will be split between the Arkle and the Turners. One will meet Ballyburn and one will meet Impaire Et Passe. HdB would typically keep two mile hurdlers at the same trip in their novice season, and Irish Point has already proven to be best at the mid-trip.

We need to see Inthepocket return fit and well, so he has plenty to prove. Mystical Power stays hurdling so we can discount him of the likely JP horses. Jeriko du Reponet also has plenty to prove, but given Henderson's horses were under a cloud it's best put a line through his Supreme run, and he could well improve significantly now going chasing, I can't really see any other JP candidates unless he buys something. I suppose it's not completely impossible that Birdie Or Bust ends up contesting one of these rather than the Mares Chase. That wouldn't be out of character for HdB. Of the two likely though, Inthepocket looks the quicker horse. Jeriko (won a point), took an age to get moving over two miles, and looked as though he would benefit for a step up in trip. The breeding of both would support that too.

If I had to guess, and this assumes all get there fit and well, I suspect we'll get the following clashes:

                          Arkle: Ballyburn, Slade Steel, Inthepocket

Turners: Impaire Et Passe, Irish Point, Jeriko Du Reponet
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I got involved in so many hype horses last year, including mister policeman, this year i won't be making the same mistakes, i must have backed four in the supreme alone.

Are all the rumours concerning the Turners getting a makeover proven not to be true. I've been away and may have missed something, but everyone seems to be carrying on as usual. Also applies to the National Hunt Chase.
