First one I’ve noticed today is Deafening Slience - Albert Bartlett. I have confirmed this with someone with access to the BHA live list.
    That one I hadn’t heard

    • Does anyone know if a horse gets scratched at this stage if bookies will give NRNB money back now or is that just at the 5 days decs stage? Cheers

It varies from year to year and bookmaker to bookmaker.
One or 2 have refunded RIP horses early this year, but like Irish says the most common is declarations as a lot of races can have supplements.

If you're cynical you may be able to see some instances where they cut with one and leave biggest price with another etc, which is rarely for the punters benefit
            Thanks Kev

            • Betfair has published the list of confirmations. Some surprising omissions. Gordon seems to be making his mind up early this year.

Sorry it was on the sportsbook but assume you've seen the official list by now.

                  • Anyone else got the feeling the festival could be a bit of a squib this year?

There's mad amounts of insanely short favs, a lot of the graded races will have small fields, few clashes to excite. Like the most exciting thing currently would be seeing if State Man can challenge the Hill, which seemed unfathomable to me six months ago.

Once it's on we'll have a great time cos it's racing, but on paper atm it feels very weak

I'd be surprised if we get an odds on shot in any of the novice races, and even the triumph should be watchable as it's Sir Gino getting chased down by 6 willies.

But from the championship race perspective then I agree as it looks like we have 3/4 with very solid favourites although the Gold Cup should always be a good watch. And the 2 other strong Fav's have at least one almost worthy rival as it stands.

Even the Mares hurdle will interest some as there is not a lot between them in ratings and a lot of potential contenders on the day, although I think Lossiemouth is a good thing personally.

So on the whole I think I disagree and you might be being a little too negative. Fingers crossed all the big horses get their in one piece.

Have some of what Lobos drinks.

I don't think it's a vintage year by any means

The novice hurdlers look 'ok' with the most exciting being Ballyburn (discussed in the novice hurdle thread in a bit of detail today)

The novice chasers don't have a superstar either, with Gaelic Warrior and Fact To File both beaten along the way, along with Marine Nationale and Facile Vega - so nothing standing out.

The open divisions have CH odds on, El Fabiolo odds on, the Stayers has no Theleme and they may even split the top 2 in the market ..... and Gold Cup an odds on horse.

Ryanair is missing Allaho who was the star of that division

                        Handicaps are handicaps

Bumper has had bubbles burst, with talking horse Romeo Coolio underwhelming... then the winner at DRF ruled out.

Yeah to be fair, I think you're right.... hopefully not, but..... nothing above that is actually that exciting?

Forgot Sir Gino actually, Triumph looks exciting, a top notch UK horse against an Irish battalion has a certain charm to it.

Mares Novice Hurdle looks exciting, but I've done that to death already today

                        • I don't think it's a vintage year, but there should be a real mix. The Arkle is a muddle. Supreme and Turners may well have short priced favs in an otherwise poor field. The BANC and Ballymore could produce some quality races and be interesting betting races. The Potato race is the Potato race - who knows. The Triumph is interesting for the reason Q says. A standout fav being hunted by quality animals in their own right. And we all know juveniles often develop late in the season. The bumper is a muddle and another good betting race but average quality. Mares Novice race looks the best for years.

In open company, we may well get to see three superstars in GDC, Constitution Hill, and El Fabiolo. Lossie too looks an excellent prospect. Otherwise, the Ryanair and Stayers both look below par but have interesting betting angles.

I quite like the blend of odds on superstars and intriguing betting races that it could be this year. Also could create some nice opportunities to pair one or two shorties with your fancy in one of the more muddling races. e.g. GDC + Dinoblue + whoever you fancy in the Bartlett.

                            • Can someone educate me please, I've got a number of Ante Post Accumulators where one horse is not declared at this stage. Examples are A DREAM TO SHARE and MISTER POLICEMAN. Is there still time for them to be entered ? Or shall I just ask B365 to write them off as losers and remove them from my list of bets. Guidance much appreciated.
