I was there in the summer and watched the Oaks in Popeyes Sports bar. It is right on the beach front. Not a massive place but plenty of TVs and i'd assume they'll show the racing. They put ITV racing coverage on for me. Decent pint too.

Found that one on the net and was also looking at the Irish Anvil Bar. Cheers.

….i was there with the family in Jan ‘23 & there’s a big Irish Bar near the ferry, I’d be surprised if that doesn’t have the racing on. Just looked. I think it’s called Irish Anvil Bar, I’m sure you could drop them an e-Mail.

Not sure about getting a bet on, I installed Nord VPN and I recall I had access to a number of sites on my phone.

If I'm thinking of the right place, it was virtually next door to the sports bar. I never went in but it looked busy - don't remember seeing them showing any sport though.

            • On a similar topic, I'm planning on heading to Newcastle to watch the festival this year. Are there any decent bars in the city centre (or Jesmond) that'll show all the festival races.

I won't drink in The Clock, Black Garter or The Beehive

              • Sadly it a little lacking in bars with racing, but few have the racing on previous years I watched in the Old George, little back bar is good. Not far from Beehive. Three bulls head in Haymarket is alright in afternoon.

….before I retired, I was in Newcastle lots for my Civil Service job and would often start my evening session in The Beehive, which was entertaining even on my own.

Ha, the bar can be absolute crackers. Alright for a very short time!

                    • I was in the beehive years ago and backed a horse called puff which came in, old guy in there said it's got no chance and favourite will piss in, i said I've only backed it because of the name, when it won he drank up shook his head and was calling us various names under his breath, great memories of the beehive ! old george was also decent for the racing.

                          • The Beehive is like the Star Wars bar.

Might try the old george. I thought there might be somewhere at Jesmond that'd be decent.

                            • Gordon very bullish about buying back the good Caldwell horses on RTV earlier. Says he’ll just keep sticking his hand up for the ones he wants.

                              • I’ve just had an email off Middleham Park Racing who are looking for backers to buy something at the Caldwell dispersal. They’re not looking at the top lots but something in the ‘mid-range’. They have good connections with Gordon and Mouse so could be interesting for anyone looking for a share in something proven.
