Good news. Fingers crossed for Fairyhouse tomorrow. -4 locally overnight, highs of +3 today and back below zero by 7pm.

Shouldn't be an issue. Cold spell has only just started and + temps during day so frost shouldn't get in with covers down.

Remember Cheltenham being on after -8 overnight so no excuses Newbury!!!!!

….problem for Newbury is getting the covers down after racing today. I read they will cover the worst spots first but won’t be able to cover it all until after the temp drops.

No excuses getting them down in time. If there was then they would have called today off and just moved a couple of the decent races to tomorrow. It's just the clerk making it sound a big deal and then when it's on he'll bask in the glory.

I can see Fairyhouse being OK at the moment, the frosts haven't been as bad as you'd have and know it was certainly going to be called off. Wouldn't be the greatest surprise if they end up having two inspections Saturday morning, and then giving the green light. Hard to ascertain here on Friday morning how hard Saturday night's frost is going to be though.
