    • Brighterdaysahead given a 124 rpr for hurdles debut.

Compares favourably to recent MNH winners.

Concertista came second in the MNH on debut, given 138. Then clocked 124 next time out.

Love the name! Northern Irish term we would use a lot!

I feel like I'm gonna be that guy all this year, and I know someone on here showed that the RPRs actually matched quite well to historical values in terms of their performance at the festival last year (possibly The Giant Bolster ?), but it's hard for me to take a 124 RPR performance at face value when it means the horse in 2nd, beaten 10 lengths ran a 6lb PB and the horse in 4th, beaten 21 lengths ran an 8lb PB.

Even reducing by the 8lb for the horse in 4th to have ran to form (which I'd question in itself, but could accept as a benchmark), it compares really nicely with Love Envoi and TMSG though so hopefully a positive sign for all you backers

          • Someone has just been laying Delta Work for XC on exchange at 100-1 and 110-1.
Only 8 pounds in total, but still.
            Had a fiver myself.

That would explain why I had so many random search results when I tried to dig a bit deeper.

I'm definitely usually one for the RPRs but they have not been helpful over the time I've been tracking them for the Mares Novice Hurdle. Horses with good seasonal RPRs have not always followed up well in this race. It's one of the reasons I personally completely avoid this race until the day.

Some performance that. Apparently already sold.

I wouldn't worry. Give it a couple of months and another run or two and that RPR of 124 might be changed to 107 or 146 or whatever it needs to be to look in line with what she subsequently achieved

I don't know the scaling of how high the RPR is but he got 97 which is the biggest I've seen.

                                Hello Kev,

It’s only taken me 7 1/2 months to reply - sorry about that, and for my general lack of engagement over the last couple of years.

Having become disenchanted with restrictions and account issues I decided to take some time out from the ante post game - also moved house, work went through a crazy spell etc, you know how it is. My ‘sabbatical’ has lasted much longer than I anticipated and I’m now at crunch time in deciding whether to make a proper go of it again for 2024.

Anyway, I’m thrilled to see this place is still thriving and I hope you’re all behaving yourselves. Even if I don’t get properly stuck in again this year I will make more effort to show my face around here more than once every 7 1/2 months… I do kinda miss you all!

                                Cheers

                                VF
