Do you know if the Ryanair is still the Festival target for Stage Star? Can't wait to see him around Cheltenham again. Boy does he bounce around that course.
Following wins in minor company at Warwick and Plumpton he went to Cheltenham on Trials Day and took his form to a new level, winning the competitive novices' handicap off a mark of 142. That entitled him to a shot at the Turners at the Festival, where he fought off his rivals one by one and galloped on strongly. It meant a lot to me to get another Festival Grade 1 on the board in one of the novice chases. All we British trainers know how hard it is to beat the Irish at the moment and it seems a long time ago now that Topofthegame won an RSA for us. The balance of Stage Star's form suggests he'll have to improve again to mix it with the best this season, and he may not be the easiest to place, but I hope come the spring he'll be worth his place in the line-up for the Ryanair. As he needs to go left-handed, and loves Cheltenham, it makes sense to enter him in the Paddy Power Gold Cup.

Not allowed them in multis as per standard with WH
Someone’s been busy getting loads of horses added. I’ve not even heard of half of them. Going to have to start doing some research

It will be bumpers for him this season and he is undoubtedly an exciting long-term prospect.
Good man - many thanks. I’ll keep my powder dry on him until next season then.

It really feels like the start of the National Hunt Season, and the first Cheltenham Meeting is only a couple of weeks away then.

Talking of which my membership has already arrived in the post. Which is very early for them. Usually I'm getting into late September wondering whether it's going to turn up at all!
Didnt know the Two Rivers Lodge was so close to the course Spectre. I booked the Coach and Horses this year as near to the course and the town. But will keep the Lodge in mind for next year.

          • The Coach and Horses is probably a shade closer than the Two Rivers Somer. It's a half decent and fairly cheap meal in the Coach and a the pub is okay too. It certainly was the last time I went there at least. It was a couple of years ago though, so it could have changed hands. I've no idea what the rooms are like.

I rent a house half a mile up the road from where you are on the way to the course. I've used the same place over that last few years, but they were renovating last year, which is why I stayed a the Two Rivers. It looked fairly new, and I suspect it hadn't been open long.

If the weather is half decent, we'll probably stop off somewhere to break up the walk, but we'll then head up to the Boat, which is easily my favourite pub in Chepstow. If you haven't been there, it's a really lively place with great views across the River Wye.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

            • Willmount and Break my Soul have gone to Hendo from Mulholland. Looks like Harris consolidating with Hendo and Moore.

Willmount could be a big player in the Novice Hurdles this coming season especially now with Hendo. Very interesting.

Certainly peaked my interest now too. Had discounted previously due to the trainer.

Not sure what else Hendo has . Willmount could be right up there as one of his best Novices. Huge price tag and potential based on his 2 easy Bumper wins. Breeding not to be sniffed at either.

He had a few late season bumper horses that he ran that were talked up a bit but didn't deliver on track. I'm hopeful Ideal Des Bordes will be one of his better one's still. He's got a fair few PTP that didn't run in bumpers and will likely go straight over hurdles too so he may have some more to go to war with.

I quite liked Southoftheborder and East India Express, but not really sure what they've beaten. He doesn't look to have too much

Not sure if I'll be able to do much AP this year with bookmaker restrictions, but I think I'll still get OJA. It's a tradition at this time of year

Isn’t it this publication that throws up all the top juvenile purchases and gives us a Triumph steer ?
