That they aren't his best ones.. Haha

    • I'm with you on the logic that those running this time of year generally won't be his best. And haven't got either of those for any race anyway but...

For bumper runners out this early it could suggest they're going hurdling this season? Or does that just make sense in my head.

Certainly does imo, getting some extra racing experience in before going over obstacles I lmagine

Yeah, 11-7 would've been no issue. Did 11-6 and 11-4 on Wednesday

              • Yeah almost certainly a hurdles campaign beckoning for those two. The 33/1 about You Oughta Know for the Ballymore is jumping out at me (again). I was seriously taken by his performance. Bred to stay but looked to have more than enough turn of foot for the mid-trip.

Might be that he's better. Might be that he's less forward/more complicated than Vega. Might be that he stays Bumpers and Vega goes Hurdling. Might be that Willie wants to give Vegas jockey a Galway Festival winner. Any number of reasons.

Can 6 year olds still run in bumpers?

'6-year-olds no longer permitted to run in National Hunt Flat races after the final day of the Jump season (April 2023).'

Does that read as they can't as a 6 year old ever?

                      I'd say it's pretty categorical.
Think it's a BHA/UK rule though, not sure on IRE

                      • Despite all the hype Galway to me will always just be a 2 race meeting.

Gordon Elliott won the Galway Plate on Wednesday and Willie Mullins, the Galway Hurdle, yesterday. Plus the two of them filled the places in the Plate.

                        Same old, same old then.

                        • On a completely different note, if any fat jockeys are coming to York in august for the ebor meeting, we will be having a pre race food and drinkies in the car park first three days. All welcome

                              • Gelino Bello may miss the upcoming jumps season. Suffered a tendon strain in the Cleeve Hurdle, due for a scan in late autumn and they'll decide whether to try get him back for a race in the spring or wait for autumn 2024.
