I’m seriously concerned that I’m going to be forced into giving up my hobby due to this stupidity. I’m not handing over details and don’t see why I should be dictated to when it’s my money.
The section of most interest to us is on pages 35-66. I suspect it will take a few at least a couple of hours to read the consultation and complete all the responses in that section. Worth doing though IMHO..

There’s no point crying afterwards, we need to try and get our point across and hope someone sees sense before every aspect of our lives are micro managed. Every single one of us on here should be filling this in.

Imagine getting your account closed or harassed for statements etc after nrnb starts and you can’t get bets on in the lead up or during the festival. The frustration would be off the charts! It’s no good thinking ah it’s ok we can just use the shops. Yes you can for now but how much longer are they realistically going to be around? Plus they’ll introduce a card system eventually that states how much you’re allowed to bet each month etc. The long term effect on racing could also have dire consequences.

You, and everyone else in here, will eventually have your accounts restricted anyway so ultimately trying to bet horses, and in particular Cheltenham, was always going to get harder and will likely get the point of being very difficult.
Shops and overseas bookmakers will be the only options available to the majority, day to day betting on course is likely to get better as many punters are forced there.
One implication that hasn't been considered is the exchanges, traders usually win but the place is full of bookmakers who lay off/hedge their on course, online or shop positions, the figures stated will kick start a review after one bet for many and they'll disappear, the exchange is under huge threat from this...

The more we can do to make our point and hopefully some common sense or at least increase the thresholds for when this stupidity kicks in. The numbers are far too low before they come wanting to know everything about your finances. No common sense at all.
