      • Do we think Nico was dreaming on Marie's Rock and thought he had everything covered then SDB got first run
        or
Marie's Rock doesn't find much off the bridle and if Nico had kicked on between the last two she would have folded

i favour the first thought , i think

She just didn't see it out that's all. Mares again next year.

Don’t agree. She certainly stayed and was pretty comfortable travelling like the best horse in the race until the last - with a strong pace. If she didn’t stay, she would have cried off long before that. Nico felt he had FP covered and was angling MR into FP to stop her hitting the front too soon. She would have hit the front and gone harder earlier had he felt SDB coming. I think she wins that 9/10 times. Nico also said “well that proves she stays” when interviewed straight afterwards.

A bit of both I thought. Ironically, she travelled too well. Nico didn’t want to be there so far out. Sire Du Berlais is a very good horse though. No shame in being beaten by him. And a lot of other good horses finished in behind her and were getting no closer. One I’d want on side for next year after that.

              • i also thought Flooring Porter ran a good race after a stop start season and his style of running doesn't really allow for easy races , i like both MR and FP in the Stayers next season , given a clear run at it , maybe more so Marie's , but we'll see

                • I think getting Marie’s Rock and Teahupoo on side is key. Might even be too late without roll ups for those that haven’t

Strange take this. She was level with Flooring Porter at the last hurdle and put 6 lengths into him before the line. Sire stayed better today - or was better positioned and had more momentum at the last given the way the race was run - but Marie's definitely stays.

Not for me. She should have won the way she was travelling but when push came to shove she had nothing left at race end. Coming up that hill in the Stayers on similar ground would be even more of a test. I can't see her being a threat.

                        • She definitely stayed the trip

Just not strongly enough to beat a copper bottomed stayer like sire du berlais

I'd think something similar would happen in a stayers hurdle. Shed stay but something else would stay stronger.

I think Henderson made a huge blunder only running her once this season

she absolutely thrived on her racing last season yet has been given a very light campaign this time

It's very possible she was simply too fresh at Cheltenham and that cost her any chance of regaining her title. They should've gone to Warwick again before the fez.

Yes he was one I was looking forward to up in trip over fences

                            Real shame

I doubt we’ll ever know the truth but Dark Raven winged every flight including the one he met his demise, it seemed to me that the stride after he landed he found a hole because there’s no obvious reason why he would have come down having jumped the flight so well.
As I said, unlikely we’ll ever get the full picture…

                              • Made a profit of about 1.5k in the last couple of weeks on bet365 from various different bets, so have today received a message on my account telling me that I am now restricted and cash out is no longer available to me

i was under the the impression that 365 was one of the better bookmakers around and weren’t as ridiculous as others when it came to this sort of thing, does that mean if I bet on ladbrokes instead that I’ll be banned if I win 500 quid?
