Actually having a daughter that has played football to a very high standard where everything you can imagine was monitored and analysed on a regular basis there is an awful lot of evidence to link dips in performance to a woman’s cycle. A woman’s training regime was at times adjusted so as to not place undue pressure at the wrong time. It is not unknown for starting positions and players to be moved to the bench for this reason. There is also a great deal of evidence that top sportswomen are more prone to serious injury based on their cycle.

Eilish mcolgan the Scottish long distance runner has linked significant performance dips to her cycle and is a strong advocate for greater understanding and awareness. I’m not sure if your post was genuine or tongue in cheek and I have no idea whether similar could or would apply to jockeys but it’s actually not a crazy post at all.

      • I'd definitely want to know if a jockey is suffering with piles.
Maybe the symbol could be a bunch of grapes.

And on the menstruation topic, I think you're probably safe if they're wearing white or beige britches.

        • Next thing punters will have to be made aware if a male jockey has pulled the whole front off himself in the hour leading up to the race, could have a serious affect on the power of his leg drive.

imo RB I think there's a slight difference in engaging in evidence and amplifying women's voices, and completely at random logging into a racing forum to make a "lol red blob" gag.

I know that probably no one on the forum would agree with me politically and socially outside of racing, but I've always enjoyed that this is a forum where different people can come together and discuss racing. If the post from GV however is the kind of stuff that people do want to see on here, let me know cos you can count me out of that kind of tripe.

            • …..for those that like such things, I have popped a ‘10 year trends analysis Thread’ for each of the Festival Handicaps in the ‘sticky’ section.

Sorry just to clarify ...are you aiming a point at me? (Friendly tone)

I think it was slightly misjudged and definitely unnecessary, and he's acknowledged this.
                  People make mistakes.

I also think the target of the joke was not women, but ourselves, because of the ridiculous search for information and analysis of statistics many of us do to help us make betting choices.

Tiger Woods recent attempt at humour, by implication was probably far more offensive. But possibly funnier.

I'd say I'm a social democrat, my uncle in law once called me a "far right brexiteer", my rugby club think I'm a communist. My only real skill is annoying people

Risky going against Willie with what looks like a decent recruit for him. Fahy’s would be the one overpriced in my eyes.

I like form in the book. And it’s good form IMO. Also hedged it with a NRNB on the fav in the CB.

                              In to 2s now.

                              • Anyone see the half sister to Mighty Potter/French Dynamite etc - absolutely bolted in at Gowran in the bumper. If someone can get that priced up with Paddy's for the Mares Novice next year, I'd be interested.
