Actually having a daughter that has played football to a very high standard where everything you can imagine was monitored and analysed on a regular basis there is an awful lot of evidence to link dips in performance to a woman’s cycle. A woman’s training regime was at times adjusted so as to not place undue pressure at the wrong time. It is not unknown for starting positions and players to be moved to the bench for this reason. There is also a great deal of evidence that top sportswomen are more prone to serious injury based on their cycle.

Eilish mcolgan the Scottish long distance runner has linked significant performance dips to her cycle and is a strong advocate for greater understanding and awareness. I’m not sure if your post was genuine or tongue in cheek and I have no idea whether similar could or would apply to jockeys but it’s actually not a crazy post at all.

I think it was slightly misjudged and definitely unnecessary, and he's acknowledged this.
People make mistakes.

I also think the target of the joke was not women, but ourselves, because of the ridiculous search for information and analysis of statistics many of us do to help us make betting choices.

Tiger Woods recent attempt at humour, by implication was probably far more offensive. But possibly funnier.
