Hope everything's well of course, after the recent loss in the family. So don't take this post the wrong way...
….Zanahiyr unlikely then, not sure if there are others tomorrow.

    • Seems like Cromwells delivery of elite performance carrots have arrived on time.

      • The DRF 2 day idea is proving again to be one of the best initiatives in modern racing and with the prize money on offer, it is still bizarre why it is for the most part boycotted by the UK trainers.

By contrast, listening to the likes of Mullins yesterday regarding Lossiemouth, it is still the aperitif to the main event. It still is very much all about Cheltenham, and certainly from this side of the Irish sea.

I think we can all accept that the majority of the best NH horses are based in Ireland and as such UK horses raiding those shores might be seen as a pointless exercise, also worth remembering too that the DRF is still fairly new and despite the quality and prize money on offer is probably still not considered Ireland's premier NH festival.
It could well develop into it but I'd guess that Irish racegoers still consider Punchestown the best festival in spite of the number of average races there ?

This weekend has been/will be great viewing but from a personal view it's just hell, all you want is your Cheltenham horses to survive injury and to impress, maybe over time we'll be developing DRF ante post books...

Well if the British trainers took the best Cheltenham horses over, where would that leave Ascot last week,Cheltenham trials day, Newbury, Ascot and Kempton this month?
Think it has to be accepted that the timing of the DRF in the calendar just does not fit in well with the brits

Leading UK trainer at Cheltenham seemingly always finding it hard to find races for his horses though - So a strong disagree here.
The days you mention are very much second division compared to these 2 days.

So basically, a meeting is invented and stuff the ones that presently exist.
                Never going to happen.
And personally I want one Olympics not two in the space of a month, and would be surprised if the majority don’t think the same

                  It has happened.
Olympics this weekend and we'll let the handicappers have theirs after, as is traditional.

                  • And a lot of what Cheltenham is about is the Irish v British thing and the more unknown the better imo.
Take that away and Cheltenham suffers big time.
Just would not be the same.
                    Anyway it won’t happen.
The only way the DRF gets the best of both is if it actually takes the place of Cheltenham.
                    Another thing that won’t happen

Haha, this meeting is good and I like it, but it ain’t nothing like the real thing.

                        Should happen IMO.
They should take turns to host the olympics.
The current hosts are undeserving of the priveledge at present.

                          Well that’s an interesting thought.
                          Dont agree though.

                          • And the main thing for me, aside from tradition, is the uniqueness of the courses at Cheltenham.

                            • Paul's not having the best week is he so far. He's ridden 4 favourites in Grade 1's and only won one of them. Whereas Willie has won 4 G1's so far this weekend.

You would hope that luck for Paul will change with State Man and FV coming up
