  • Yep absolutely caution in the graded races still needed but he will certainly be more competitive than previous years. A few bubbles burst today more of the same after the DRF next week.

A group of us have been over for the DRF every year since they started it, and would be amazed if you didn't enjoy every second of it, There are Grade 1s left, right and centre, and in my view there's no better city in the world to have a night out than Dublin, so it's got everything going for it (the price of a Guinness at the track is considerably less than at Cheltenham too). I still love the 4 days of the Festival, and it still has all of the ultimate races, but the overall experience of the DRF makes it a fantastic weekend away - hope you have a great time!

      • Is there still a Will Hills on course at Cheltenham?

          Yes, 2 at least.
One between the pre parade ring and parade ring next to See You Then bar, the other one I know is in the main grandstand (Club) just off the underpass the gets you from parade ring to course...

Not sure how deep the race was yesterday but he galloped all over them, I just wonder though in an ultra competitive festival handicap where he'll get taken on for the lead he'll get taken out of his comfort zone.
Watching him yesterday I thought Whitbread...

            • Did anyone use the self service bar in the cottage rake yesterday? If so, how were the queues?

Think they'd go for one of the graded novice races wouldn't they? He's in the Turners and the BANC.

I've not heard of this FM, is it a trial initiative ?

I've seen on the Cheltenham website they say there's an annual members bar called the 'M30 Upper' ?
Does anyone know where this is ?
Or is the one and only bar in the new members stand ?

I saw a post on Instagram about the self service bar. I can imagine it would be carnage trying to get a pint.

We usually drink in the Cottage Rake bar. It's in the club enclosure, almost in line with the winning post.

Yeah I know the Cottage Rake bar, it was this 'M30 Upper' bar I've never heard of.

Are these self service machines chaos ?
I used one at Sandown a couple of years ago and it was fine..

The machines are OK. These new set up is actual pumps where you can pour your own Guinness.

Do you have to ask for assistance when it doesn’t recognise you’ve brought your own bag

                            • Just got a “we need to verify your identity” notification on 365. I went to the verification option on the menu bar and it seems they only want proof of address, so I’ve went with the postal code option which it says will arrive on 7-10 working days. I haven’t been asked for photo ID yet, and I’m pretty sure I’ve already provided that when I opened the account anyway.

is this all pretty standard? It’s just I had a pretty decent fourfold come off yesterday, nothing bigger than wins I’ve had before but i found it a little strange that I get this notification the day after, and my withdrawal option is gone until I prove my address, and possibly photo ID after that but I’m not sure. So I’m just wondering if this is pretty normal or the start of all the affordability checks nonsense etc

Yes thus has been discussed/debated /exposed in a series of articles in the racing post over recent weeks. The gpbiggest criticism being why firms don’t insist on the same rigour when they accept deposits as they do when processing withdrawal requests.

I will be contacting the few firms I can still bet with to figure out what I need to do in advance of the festival to ensure I am not inconvenienced festival week
