Have you not seen the raft of fines these bookies get for not following the rules

It's eminently believable that putting loads of small bets on fools the system

It's nothing to do with the bets though is it ?
It's the deposits and withdrawals they'll be looking at for AML.

Don't know but he's been doing it for several years

I used to work in a bookies and the AML trigger for the FOBTs was money inserted with minimal play

It being the same online wouldn't surprise me at all

          • Blows my mind that in this day and age with all the technology available that a big Saturday meeting worth millions of pounds can be called off due to frost. Surely there is a solution that wouldn't cost a fortune? Maybe I've completely lost my shit in suggesting this, but why couldn't they create a large square heat omitting defroster thats attached to the back of a 4x4 that someone drives around all night? Piece of piss no? All the staff deploying frost covers could turn their attention to protecting the ground before and after each obstacle (which obviously this vehicle wouldn't be able to drive right up to). This is one idea, but surely The Jockey Club can think of something. Yes it doesnt happen often, but it happens often enough for someone to have found a solution doesnt it? Mother Nature, what a bitch.

I left the office and asked my manager "Do you think this is suspicious"

Nowadays you can't even draw a grand out without needing an interview as to the reasons why. Never mind pay it in.
Exactly I have worked in anti money laundering for over twenty years and such behaviour has never been overlooked

                  • Newcastle left it late to call it off today. That's a poor do.

I heard that they could have raced today if they hadn't raced yesterday. Friday's racing opened up the ground and the divots froze before they could get the covers down again.

Interesting. Genuinely bemused why they can't run a current through frost covers to create heat. Seems mental in this day and age that we still lose racing to frost. Can understand some of the weekday cards or tracks not having the means but Cheltenham on a big Saturday ffs. God forbid this happens in march. I think I'd offer to roll around out there all night to keep the ground warm (and I'm not actually joking)

                              • Assuming it’s not cost effective to keep or have some sort of heating system/covers

what disappoints me is, we’ve had 2-3 months of “the ground is too fast”… now it’s “too hard”… won’t be long until it’s too soft

With Ireland having the same issues, it’s something I’m definitely factoring in as a lot of Mullins will now be force yo race together, so the winners of that are bound to be decent animals, then you get the typical inexperienced novice who’s been throw into a grade 1, loses, gets a decent mark and then bolts up in the county
