had a similar situation last year but it would fluctuate, some days you had positive values and others just original stakes very odd.

The next morning those that have shortened a fair bit, revert back to cashouts with an extra sum.

He did that last year on UTA, trying to find the boodles winner in November - it's hard enough on the day, and now he's having a crack at the pertemps ffs. A lot of good tipsters (which I consider him one) adjust their approach when they start to charge for tips and it often goes to complete shit because they deviate from whats made them profitable in the first place. I hope that doesnt happen to Gavin.
The case for Shoot First actually fits a lot of what I perceive to be your key points...
CD form, albeit old course rather than the new they run on in March I think
Guaranteed target and won't run before then
BHA Performance Rating of 137 guaranteeing lovely weight at the festival
Trainer is a master with handicap plots (or past master, no reason why he can't have a renaissance)
Horse was already on GL's list as one to follow before the Pertemps Qualifier
Only 4 qualifiers from each race for Pertemps meaning a smaller pool of potential flyers to beat him
I agree this place is more valuable for Cheltenham and that trying to find the Boodles winner in November last year was ridiculous, but for me, the conditions of the Pertemps this year make it almost as attractive as novice hurdles/chases for betting, except that we already know if the horse can jump/run over CD or not and there's no Mullins Bingo! I don't think it's a bad tip, albeit it's nothing mindblowing

I agree with the points you make re the case, but tips like that this far out are lazy and I expect better from GL (who I really like btw) - put it this way, it doesn't have me rushing to sign up. I haven't seen his case but if like you he thinks he won't run again before March then the case for waiting becomes even stronger. I can take 10/1 now 5 months out or 5/1 the night before for double the stake and infinitely more information. Latter all day.
