  • Interesting article.

Gordon Elliott hasn't had a hurdling debutant winner at Leopardstown since December 2012, which is a surprising stat but he does tend to get his best ones out earlier than the Leopardstown meetings.

    • Anyone know if Sporting Life, Timeform & Racing Post record their success rate with their daily tips each month?...we've seen their paragraph summary write ups on each daily race and got me thinking how succesful they actually are.

Sporting life doesn't seem that bad, but I saw something on twitter a while back that had pricewise from racing post as going negative for like a few years straight

        • No XC race at the next Cheltenham meeting in a couple of weeks - replaced with a veterans chase due to the ground?!

            • Mind if I state a case for one that could be useful for roll ups today? The 2.37 Musselburgh is the race and Izzys Champion is the horse I like.

I wasn't going to bother with a bet today but had a scan of the racing to see if there was anything of interest when I noticed Obey the Rules was running. Id backed him at Bangor the other day and the race was voided, he travelled brilliantly but I've found that he can often look like he's travelling better than he is and find very little if it comes down to a battle. Because of the injury and the understandable cancellation of the race I didn't get to see if he'd trained on in his finishes so I'm taking a chance that he's the same as ever.

Izzys Champion won this race last year and runs off a nice rating 2lb lower than last years winning rating despite going up 3lb recently. I expect Obey the Rules to take them along and then the top weight/old habits to do their magic and allow Izzys Champion to take it up.

I've done the single (edit: 11/4 with 365) and a double with Irish Point in the Supreme. I'd be delighted if I can land one for everyone.

Side note: Skybet have price boosted Obey the Rules which I usually take as a sign that they're happy to take on the fav. Id love to see the success rate of Skys boosted horses.

Quite negative reaction on twitter regarding cross country racing at Cheltenham, personally it’s one of my favourite races of the festival and look forward to the cross country handicaps on the way. Also find it to be quiet profitable, especially with Gordon targeting it in previous years.

Will have to have a look at this one mate

The Skybet boosts are a running joke between my friends & I, it’s like the kiss of death! You’d surely be skint by now if you’d backed them all!

                    • There's a little drift now which I'd say is down to the rain if it's anything like here in Cumbria. The Lucinda Russell stable tour mentions that he needs good ground but he has won on g/s over 2 miles and 2m4f.

                      • Terrible that, please accept my apologies anyone who followed. Just didn't seem to want to bother today.

                        Sky boost struck again though.

                        • He's a short price tomorrow but BOOM BOOM for Nicky Henderson has the form in the book and should really be winning the 1.20 at Newbury.

That Leave of Absence ran well in the G2 Bumper at Aintree and confirmed form with Blow Your Wad on hurdles debut last week.

Just had a look back at previous renewals and Hendo has usually thrown a decent dart at this race: Broomfield Burg (2021), Dusart (2020), Mister Fisher (2018), Claimantakinforgan (2017).

Claiman & Mister Fisher both ran in the Supreme while Dusart went straight to Aintree and finished 3rd in the G1 Novices race won by Jonbon this year. Broomfield Burg didn't quite hit those heights but ran in a Betfair Hurdle, a County Hurdle and an Aintree handicap.

Even if you don't back him tomorrow, BOOM BOOM is certainly worth a follow if he wins - or is even placed (Burg & Fisher both finished 2nd while the other two won).

Don't worry about it Lbur , maybe the ground was to blame as i think the commentator said he prefers good ground ??.

Aye it’s been hammering it down all day in the central belt, ground would have been a lot softer I’d imagine.

Can't imagine it's the ground. It feels like all it's done is rain here for the past week or so. Such a shame as I really enjoy the cross country races throughout the season and this is usually the one that good ground horses have a chance in
