Following on from the 'Out of Cheltenham' thread, I'd like to repeat the cautionary line about mares as ante-post propositions. This, in particular, applies to mares that are leased to racing syndicates with Willie Mullins. Although the syndicate will be consulted, any retirement decision will ultimately be taken by Willie and the breeder who will want his asset back in one piece.
As a general rule, the covering season will run from February until July so, as long as the mare is fit and thought capable of improving her broodmare potential/value, she will probably stay in training for the first half of the NH season anyway but at the first sign of injury, infirmity or regression she will be powdering her nose and on her way to visiting the stallion of choice. Of course, it's generally the aim to run in the spring festivals and then go to the breeding sheds in May but the whole thing is just unwanted jeopardy for ante-post betting this far out.
