Crowdfunder - Fat Jockey Forum upgrade

Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

The race that just finished at ballinrobe, horse is allowed to get miles clear and wins

You have the James Gate bumper at punchestown and I have no doubt loads of other examples I've not seen

L'impertinent just got 40 lengths clear with nothing trying to chase, jockey takes a breather and wins easy

At some point you really have to wonder how low the quality of jockeys is, I feel sorry for anyone who actually had a bet in these races I've not had a penny in any of them and the sheer incompetence is annoying me.

We talk about small fields in Britain, but irish fields are just as small really since half the runners are 60 lengths behind after half a mile and not trying lol

    Rant over
    OUCH. Harsh.

It looks like an acceptable farce, to run races like that, in Ireland.

Maybe because of lack of races to run in, with potential 0-125 horses.
They set off 200 yards behind to make sure they don't get too close to better horses.

The non triers aren't really the issue tbf in these races

It's the jockeys on the ones trying allowing horses to get 30 lengths clear and making 0 effort to close said gap until its too late.

I guess but they've been running that offer for a while. Out for 12 hours on Grand National day, crashing on both UCL semis. App used to be best in class, now is buggy as all hell. Bit of a shambles

What are the good points about it? And are the first few days better to go than the last few?
                  This answers some of that.

Personal experience would be that the experience gets worse towards the end of the week but, like other festivals, the weather is a factor as no course can cater for a full house all indoors or under cover.

I've only been the once and that involved a one night stay out of town. It wasn't Hurdle or Plate day so the course hospitality was fine even with occasional heavy showers.

You'll know that accommodation is very expensive and all city centre hospitality crowded. At my age, if I did it again I'd probably opt to stay out of the city and take the train to Galway. Athlone has good bus and train connections.

As for the betting, it may have been a one off but the late money in the flat handicaps was usually a good pointer so it's worth hanging around in the ring.

But not too far if i know my Travel Agent , he's been before .
To be honest , I'm just looking forward to something a bit different . Last time i was in Galway was about 40 years ago. .
