  • Has everyone seen Willies comments on GDC on Raxing Post website?

Suggests they might go back on trip with him to 2m!

While I doubt it it would put me off the very tempting 4/1 () for the Gold Cup next year

The way he jumped today there's no way he'd stay the gold cup trip

Or he'd need to be a kauto star level of horse to anyway

      • This is going to sound really bad, I honestly hope it doesn't come across like I'm being a dick (reading it back i am, but want to rant lol), but I can't help the jealousy as I know the bookies are the enemy! Think it's just the handicaps I've hit the cross bar in the majority off them still haven't connected in them, but few mates (casual punters) have sent me screenshot off 40/1 and 50/1 winners, should be happy for them as they aren't my opposition, should be glad they are beating the bookies, but I just want to bloody land one, is that too much to ask?

Nah bollocks, if they dont spend as much time looking at the festival and then they win instead of you i personally get the hump for about 10-15 minutes then i move on! Haha

            Dont worry about it
Keen on doing what you are doing. It's difficult not to react, this week I've felt that the general casual punter would have done better than me but those same casual punters could have had Shishkin and GDC in their accas, but you wont see a losing betting slip

Its the Festival, we waited all year for this, no only to beat the bookies but also to get that feeling as they climb up the hill, and its yours that crosses the line first

I've had that feeling like twice this week, and one of them was Honeysuckle whom I didnt have much on.

It will swing over to your favour

Months ago, my Mrs asked me to use some of her free bets on Paddy Power to do horses for Cheltenham. Forgot all about them until she told me I landed her a 212/1 treble yesterday of Bob O, Allaho and Flooring Porter. It appears it was too much trouble for me to do the same bet in my own accounts

I hope you get out today with something decent but don't beat yourself up about it

              • The handicaps this year have been a pinsticker's dream, and not helped by Wednesday's going change. Now I might looking a complete idiot if say State Man and Langer Dan scoot home this afternoon, but my gut reaction is that the GB handicapper has really thrown punters a curveball this year with his assessments. What do others think here?

                  I'd say...

Ultima: Went as expected even though I didn't pick the winner (unexposed English chaser)
Boodles: Went as expected - Gaelic beat himself when looking well in, Brazil was findable
Coral and Grand Annual: Irrelevant due to ground - if the horse went on it, it ran well regardless of mark
Pertemps: British handicapper gave a classy horse a chance, Alaphillipe was well thought of last year so findable
Plate: There wasn't a standout horse for me that wasn't near the front so it was 'kind of' predictable. I did an exacta with 5 horses and had 1,2,3,5,7 with 7th being the biggest bet I had in a single/multiple (obviously)
KM: Bit of a lottery but Venetia Williams had Cloudy Glen so there could have been an ew angle there (wouldn't have expected the win)

I personally focussed only on Gordon Elliott's horses for Pertemps and KM, which is an obvious mistake.

I'd say the two horses most likely to be thrown in alongside Gaelic Warrior at this festival are/were State Man and Langer Dan. If both are close, then everything bar Wednesday could have been found (even though I didn't in most cases)

Lands the gold cup, 2 fingers up while holding the trophy, I'm sure he'd take that.

Spent more time in the stewards room than anywhere else hasn't he? 6 times I think I've heard the call for him

Totally agree the first two home in the Ultima were thoroughly unexposed and easily found by non pin stickers. Had Frodon not been in the race I think places would have been reveresed and a number of forumites had been talking about both of the front two. Third wind had been heavily supported and the jockey was very clear in his view that he was well handicapped. I thought Mister Coffey was the best handicapped horse in the Kim Muir and likely was and a case was made on here, he just wasn’t the most resolute. Agree re GW he beat himself.

Global Citizen was found by Aaron Lad I think it was on this forum and he and I were going back and forth and we concluded that the Grand Annual would be a much better fit than the county based on the comparative records of front runners in each race. His recent hurdle form had improved massively for a wind op and his rating had dropped to a very workable mark. The case had been made on here and it was a solid one. I wouldn’t have touched him in the county but was a lot more keen for the Grand Annual (my reservation was less about the horse and more the suitability of the track) but at the price not everything will align.

The plate was won by a Cheltenham specialist running off a mark just two pounds higher than his previous course win so perfectly findable.

As for Commander of Fleet I’d say he is completely unpredictable but it wouldn’t have been unreasonable for folks to have short listed all those with 3 mile form bearing in mind the conditions and that logic would have captured 3 of the first 5 home.

Not all of these were highlighted on here but some were and those that weren’t were findable for one reason or another imo. I certainly didn’t find them all but I wouldn’t label somebody that did as a pin sticker personally.

                          • Think his point was more that very few fancied runners have run well in the handicaps

Ok if that's the case, I'd agree on the caveat that it's 'very few Gordon Elliott trained fancied runners have run well in the handicaps'.

Unfortunately for me, that means I'm yet to back a handicap winner as we move into day 4.
