A lot of talk re new restrictions seems to be focusing on ‘indoor hospitality’. With the amount of outdoor space at racecourses it would be criminal IMO for racing to go back behind closed doors, and even worse if racing is stopped.

    • Absolute joke isn't it, sick of it now. Even when all the data from SA and Denmark suggests this new varisnt is basically a cold with no rise in hospitalisations or deaths, the fear is ramped up by the media and the government again over reaches. If we are locking down for this then we will lock down and things will be called off and cancelled forever.

Need to just live with it now, instead of revolving everyone's life around it and ruining every single thing we enjoy doing. Somethings just can't be helped, earthquakes, a meteor hitting earth, air-borne viruses.

Irish racecourses are restricting capacity for forthcoming meetings. I know the upcoming Leopardstown one is reduced capacity as saw it on the website. I'm due to go to the DRF at start of February, all booked so expecting to be able to attend even with reduced capacity, as long as no further restrictions.

Sensible thing for UK racecourses would be to adopt similar approach rather than a blanket ban on anyone attending

Absolutely. Every course is different. Cheltenham, for example, probably has 2-3 times the outside space Sandown has. Places with more space should be allowed more people

Billaway opened at 8's with them. That didn't last a day.

Spot on and it’s sad to see, the media have alot to answer for as all they care about is money for themselves and viewing figures, they know keeping covid etc in the news is great for them and prior to the pandemic i wouldnt of been surprised if they had started to struggle financially and with views.

I don’t get the big obsession with the horse he wasn’t good enough last year or the year before what makes him a certainty this time? He’s become over hyped ever since the owners made a comment about measuring the trophy for their mantelpiece.
I’m not saying he can’t win but the price is ridiculous for a horse that rarely delivers.
