Hopefully their breeding operation will be more successful than their purchases. You have to feel that for the amount they've laid out, their return has not been too great.

Ah right, just watched a racing tv thing on YouTube the November meeting preview and they have the BoyleSports rep on there talking about my drogo etc and saying he thinks it will be popular on that race. Maybe it was recorded before final decs.

I hope so too. They deserve to have a break out star in their ranks.

How much do you think they've spent on horses now? It must be ?5 million plus? Every sales they seem to buy at lease one horse for like ?200-300k plus

It’s definitely a large amount. I know they haven’t initially been buying to get a return, but for all that outlay you’d have wanted to have nailed a few more graded horses.

Gordon almost needs to guarantee some success this year otherwise they'll start to doubt all the slaver he's been giving them when persuading them to shell out.

                • I think as of recently Eddie O’Leary has been doing some buying for them so you’d hope/think they might have a bit better luck with their purchases going forward.

funny really, when gigginstown said they were winding down a few years ago, it was lauded by some (sensationalist) people as the beginning of the end for Irish racing, what with the supposed knock on effect of them no longer paying good money for former pointers etc. Didn’t take long for that vacuum to be filled, chevely park have had a ridiculous success:horses purchased ratio, the Morans have spent money like it’s going out of fashion and up until now have been pretty much the inverse of chevely but IMO it’s robcour that are going to be the next real dominant force. Made some proper good purchases and think in 5 years if they stick at it they could have a really nice outfit

Andrew Brown seems to be spending quite a bit too.

Yep got a few with Gordon now haven’t they and probably not long before they land on a real good one. He’s not just a fantastic trainer he’s a fantastic entrepreneur too, an absolute master at bringing new owners with money to spend into the yard, and makes sure he gets the horses placed in the right races too so they get a taste of success & keep spending - just look at down royal this season, 2 winners on the Saturday for relatively new owner in the yard Andrew brown (as well as 3 for probably his biggest current supporter noel Moran).

willie probably the best overall trainer in the game but if I was lucky enough to be able to afford a few good yokes there’s not a doubt in my mind I would put them in training with Gordon.

The Browns tend to spend less and take more of a chance on stores rather than expensive PTP recruits. They’re now dipping a toe into French recruits too so it’s interesting to see which approach works.

                            • Tbf the Bective Stud form atm is ridiculous in the last 14 days 12 runners 8 winners. All different horses. And have some big chances this weekend to with Rivi?re D’etel and Iberique Du Seuil

Only one of Hollow Games or Ginto to go to the Albert Bartlett. Doesn’t know which one yet

American Mike the one he’s most looking forward to at Cheltenham in the Bumper

Riviere d’etel his NAP of the weekend

Zanahiyr may stepped up in trip to 2 1/2 miles soon
