He's 138 and i'd give him a right chance of being good enough off that sort of mark. My concern is will he be trying. Race is worth feck all but he's fit and been on the go for a while, so im trying to decide whether they'll be taking adv of his fitness edge, or getting him qualified, and off on his winter holidays.
Presumably if he won, he'd need to be winning off the same mark or near as Presenting Percy did, which i don't imagine he'd be up to.

    Anyone gotta view?

Quevega you often come up with logical views on these types of things....go on
Tricky the qualifiers, for the obvious reason you've mentioned.
If I was having a bet in the race I'd have definitely looked at the Irish entry, and would still do after decs.
But I'd also be telling myself not to bet in the race unless something was on a low mark and looked well handicapped with potential. But this doesn't always pan out, as they're not all wanting to come back in March.
Having glanced over the current entries their does look some interesting runners off lower marks that look unexposed at the trip and well handicapped maybe.

Probably best if he's not declared

Will have to see how and when he remerges but the Betway Bowl would interest me for Shan this season.
Couldn't disagree with any of those points - crazy how slow the eventual 'winner' fusil ended up going in the last few furlongs.

An added 'bonus' of Shan blues absence could be that if he does only come back for aintree he's a fresh horse. Would definitely give clan something to think about in the bowl after he's had Cheltenham off anyway.

              • I still use a very basic spreadsheet for all my bets, It's one I've had so long that I was probably wearing flares when I first started using it. And whilst there's nothing particularly wrong with it there just has to be a much better and more efficient way of logging all my bets, and accessing and analysing all the combinations of multiples I have without doing an inordinate amount of work each time I need to.

Singles are still easy, although I'm sure I can improve on what I do at the moment, but logging and cross referencing my multiples is becoming almost impossible. I'm therefore looking for something that I can easily filter by horse and bet type that auto-calculates bets and returns. I'm not an excel whizz, and I rely on the very basics to make my current spreadsheet work, and I'd be fairly sure that a number of you guys on here with advanced excel skills have something that wipes the floor with what I currently use.

The question is, does anyone currently use something slick and reasonably sophisticated, that just needs the basic bet information input, that they'd be prepared to share?

                Many thanks in advance.

                Spec

Do you use Google Sheets or are you wanting to stick to Excel? And are you wanting a nice front end (like the Betloader thing that Cheltmental has used)?

I have a spreadsheet that I'm relatively happy with which I'd be happy to share with some select people if I made it a bit more user friendly I guess? But it has no front end, I guess I've just designed it to do what I want it to do, which I realise could well be different to what you want

                  • Just practical Dan. It doesn't need bells and whistles. A standard excel sheet is perfect.

I want to be able to track my singles and multiples separately but in the same document though.

What I really want to be able to do is slice and dice my multiples by horse so I can see where I'm perhaps too exposed and where I've missed the obvious. I've just realised I have a couple of major holes in my multiple strategy for the season, and it's taken an awful long time to figure it out. I can fix it, but prices have tumbled in the meantime. It's also possible there are other holes I haven't picked up on. If it auto calculates both the win and place multiple returns all the better

I need something better than I'm using right now so I don't make silly mistakes.

I thought they stopped that years ago.
Was a time anyone could walk the course between 7am-8am but that was many years ago...
