Apologies if I've missed it but any thoughts on the Gordon Elliot interview.

I could be cynical and say that its a good piece of positioning ahead of his return.

However Gary O'Neil didn't go easy on him at all, and asked some tough questions. And on Gordon's part he seems genuinely contrite, understands what he's done wrong and it does seem to have woken him up a bit. I felt he was very honest.

I was also taken aback by how stoic he was about the horses taken off him winning at the festival, took a lot of character. Also impressed that on the day he won champion trainer and the gold cup, Henry D took the time to call him about Quixilios.

I had mixed feelings about his return, but after watching I definitely feel he has been punished and reformed and feel confident his return isn't a slight on the game.

Maybe one for Archie........Corran Cross was sold at Goffs Doncaster sales on September 8th........how can I find out which trainer he has switched to as he still shows as with Gordon and the previous owners ?

Thinking about going to the Dublin Festival for the first time, though I’ve been to Dublin a few times. Anyone have any ideas for Hotels around Dublin/Airport that don’t cost the earth. Think Rugby is in town, though might struggle to get a hotel nearer the time.

depends on who they're playing, but the rugby will cause everything to be booked up for ages/expensive before we even get to the fact that Dublin is massively over tourist-ed. The cheap end tends to be more hostel-y too for backpackers.

The city is so small as well you don't really get any benefit from being near the aiport - it's easily accessed by taxi or the aircoach which uses the port tunnel to skip a lot of the traffic.

So I'd say stay central (south side, the north side is still a bit sketchy if you don't know your way around) or even think laterally with somewhere like Donnybrook or Stilorgan where you'll have easy access to central, Leopardstown (via the Luas) and the airport

Best bet and cheapest option would be to try get an AirBnB near the racecourse. The track is in the southside, it would be a trek from the airport if you were based around there. Also the Luas green line tram services the track so you could find a hotel/B&B near one of the stops. Night life would be best in south city center for after.

echo that...we got an airbnb near a tram and its quick to get to the racecourse from pretty much anywhere in Dublin. only slight prob we had was a number cancelled after we'd booked.

I think hotels were significantly more expensive when we looked but guess it depends on your budget!

Thanks for the replies everyone, given me a few more ideas.
Had a tough month with my health, and waiting for scan results etc, thankfully things look more positive now.
So it’s made me think it’s time to stop putting things off, and the Dublin Festival is going to be my treat to myself, hopefully if Covid situation allows it to go ahead.

Mentioned him the other day (somewhere on here), already had three runs, so will get a handicap mark. Wonder if they'll go down the Boodles route rather than the Triumph.

Going off of the other juveniles WPM has bought this summer, I'd say he's a boodles horse like COD said. Vauban and Parmenion from what he's bought look to be the 2 main ones off of what we have right now.

I've only got round to reading it, I am very bias as he is my favourite trainer and would follow his horses alot and have a very good success rate (especially Cheltenham) so as much as I know it was "wrong" I didn't overly judge him and was happy to move on. The interview came across well imo, but that's the thing others who's minds made up who can't or don't want to forgive him probably won't!

Interesting he's mentioned ALL staff have stuck by him too, suppose their loyally should be better than mine and as I have mentioned, have no issues with him.

A few dIgs at those who didn't stand by him who are part of the game, intrigued to know more about that!

The thing I took from the interview was that he thinks about a lot of stuff in bed at night, and looks like he's been eating a lot of stuff in bed at night also.
He probably needs a Horlicks, scented candle and some whale noises to help him settle I reckon.
