Always thought one run over an inadequate trip before going straight to the National. He always performs at his best after a long winter break so that would fit perfectly. IMO that's what will happen. No need to run again anywhere risking injury. One run then cotton wool time Galvin my little beauty.

Whilst the races were very different there are collateral form lines that put him not a million miles behind Monkfish through Next Destination/Fiddlerontheroof. I also don't think he'd mind coming back in trip either, for all that he can clearly see out an extreme distance as well.
He'll not be going GC COD. GN all the way.

I believe he has to run in a 3m+ chase this year so to qualify for the national that could be the route if he goes for the Kerry national.

I think he fits all criteria currently, aside from completing one steeplechase this season

Yep. What a great bit of long term planning that is. Amazing stuff.

I've got him covered for small stakes for the GN, but I seriously wouldn't discount the GC at this stage, although as the odds suggest, it probably is the least likely route, but should he turn up I don't think he'd just be making up the numbers.

                              • Thanks ComplyOrDie for the heads up about Happygolucky.

Was one of my bets for the grand national and managed to cash out my full stake after reading your note on the out of Cheltenham thread. If he's out for the season, he'll hardly be lining up in the national either.
