Back in training under Elliotts name, that's probably the most important part

Interesting - back with Elliott according to that.

Why do you think he's unlikely to run ? Perfectly entitled to top weight and well up to winning a big early prize. Surely they knew he'd be at the top of the handicap before entering him ?

        • With future targets in mind, it'll be interesting firstly to see if he takes up the entry, and secondly whether he's trying or not.

Yes, an intriguing seasonal debut for sure.

I really find it hard to see the UK capper coming down much from 154, no matter how he runs (one run, two runs maybe) before the Grand National weights.

But he could get runs into him without going up any, too, by finishing 10 lengths back, in 4th (Like a typical Pertemps Qualifier run).

Also need to get my mind round if Ronnie Bartlett would want Galvin to go the X-Country route, or not, too.

If he did, then it would probably start at Cheltenham in November (rather than December which could be softer winter ground).
Gordon has often ran Galvin outside of the winter months, he may keep to that plan this year (hence his entry next week).

I had the discussion with Faugheen_Machine somewhere, if he's held up and runs no sort of race that would look the perfect time to climb into his National price...

If 365 put his price out beyond the market best of 33/1, I would look to snap it up.
I like the look of Farclas getting 6lb from him, but to be honest anything carrying more than 10st 9lb rarely wins (8 in 10 years win carrying 10st 9lb or less).

Yep, completely agree, there will be a few in the race ahead of their mark but I'm convinced Elliott knows Galvins ceiling exceeds 154, for me he wasn't all out to win his National Hunt Chase and I think most will agree that was a classy renewal, it really comes down to whether they want his season to revolve around the National and as Bartlett has never won the race there has to be a fair chance that will be the case...

If Galvin wins this off 154 then he is Elliotts best chance in the Gold Cup (that’s not too hard to be, this season)

I am thinking he doesn’t win and retains his 154 mark next week, but anything’s possible at the moment.

Gordon’s not known for wrecking Grand National marks when sending horses their for the first time, so next week is intriguing.

He is going to run next week, isn’t he?

                        Looks like it.

It's looking likely. Plenty of rain the last few days in Ireland so the ground should be fine. The Kerry Group Chase looks a better option to me than the Kerry National.

….made the point elsewhere about a possible GC tilt. 40-1 available with cash-out.

I think he's an obvious E/W angle @ 40/1 for the Gold Cup myself, too, and backed accordingly. Whilst the races were very different there are collateral form lines that put him not a million miles behind Monkfish through Next Destination/Fiddlerontheroof. I also don't think he'd mind coming back in trip either, for all that he can clearly see out an extreme distance as well.
