19 runs, 14 wins, 3 places. All but 1 run at Auteuil. The prize money can't be argued with but there can't be too many that have ran that sort of sequence almost exclusively at the same course?! Is this noteworthy?! I find French racing a complete mystery tbh.

    • Mullins quote after Elimay's win at Fairyhouse...

“It was hard work, and she might have been feeling the effects of Cheltenham, but she got the job done anyway – so that was nice,” said Mullins.

“We’ll have a look at Punchestown, but I think she’s probably done enough for the season. We’ll see how she comes out of this.

“I just said to Mark there that on drier ground she probably wants three miles.”

I suppose this does add some fuel to the theory she may step up in distance this season. The GC dream is still alive

The links below are worthwhile reading. Foxy Girl may be one to keep an eye on IMO.

in there own way each of them have been eye-catching races during their time in France and all 4 retain loads of potential now that they hav

Ever since 2019, when there were 14 French bred winners at the Cheltenham Festival, the stock has soared and in spite of the difficulties fo

I wonder if a 'French Imports' thread would be a useful resource?? I'd consider starting one but I'm crap at this sort of thing!!

Foxy Girl looks a very good Juvenile filly.

Yeah, start one up. Always a good thread to have with the amount of French imports . Especially those going to Mullins yard. We can all catch some really nice big early Ante Post prices then for the likes of the Supreme, Ballymore and Triumph.

Yep, maybe one for 2023 Fez. I'd be more interested in Historique Reconce of Willie's. He works wonders with the girls and she could be very interesting at a huge price for the Novice Mares Hurdle next March. I'll keep an eye on her.

              • Speaking of Willie working wonders with the mares, has there been any word anywhere on stormy ireland?

I was reading Spectre's thread and specifically the last page about the mares hurdle. It made me recall Stormy's resurgence at the end of last season when she won twice in a row, beating concertista in the 2nd of those. RP has Willie's post race comments saying they'd keep her in training, maybe go flat racing as opposed to going chasing.

However, she only had one flat race in June, being beaten into 2nd when a very short price, and nothing since and no other entries.

Was just wondering if chasing is back on the cards, she's 16/1 with sky bet for the mares chase, not priced up with any of the other big bookies, and 10/1 best price with 365 for the mares hurdle.

                • SI didn't appear to take to chasing, Mullins did think she was too small so I'd expect her to go down the Mares Hurdle again.

                  • For those that think the Irish domination at the Festival will continue, PP have a special price of 40/1 for Ireland to get 23 or more winners in 2022 (23 winners in 2021). That seems generous so I had on the maximum bet I was allowed of 60p!

Cut to 20/1 this morning. Got on last night. Thanks for highlighting

If Quilixios stays hurdling, at what festival race do people think he would be targeted? I can’t imagine 5 year olds have a good record in the Stayers Hurdle. Which leaves the Champion Hurdle, in which Cheveley Park may also have Ferny Hollow an HDB already has Honeysuckle, or a handicap? Thoughts?

                          • Aintree hurdle could be the race for him

But every chance he will struggle at the top level as a 5yo like many before him

It’s not a great season usually coming out of juvenile hurdles, not many will win at Cheltenham as a 5yo, there’s no novice hurdles to protect you with, so it’s the big league, Graded open Hurdles.

Lets face it there’s not a great deal of talent in the UK, in 2M Graded Hurdles, so maybe they could send Quilixios over for the Fighting Fifth or the International Hurdle in early December, and the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.

                              • Always thought he might go Stayers. Gordon said last season that he wasn't your typical 4yo so he might not be your typical 5yo going for the Stayers.
